Default My car smokes a bit (pic inside)

Just looking at some pics from snetterton and ive noticed she seems to be smoking a bit,can you tell by the colour of the smoke if its worn engine or overfueling? or could it be my turbo as i know it has a little play in the shaft?
Just thinking if it is worn engine i will need to rebuild it before i put the new turbo and chip in
If i can get a compression test, what should it read if its a healthy engine?
Also i get shit loads of black soot all over the car which is a nightmare to clean off

as fook Al.

As for your problem, i'm no car mechanical expert but could simply be the fact you were working it hard and might be a bit of oil burnt off (possibly ) or maybe the fact it was a cold day & the exhaust was just condensating slightly...just like cars do when in cold weather.

black soot could be over-fuelling (?) a touch

Sure someone will rip my diagnosis to bits.

if your paint is getting black id say indicates over fueling/un burnt fuel

so not a big problem

Perfectly normal ! Most of the crap on cosworth rear bumpers after a track session tends to be from the diffs and gearbox , a small pot mounted high up with a pipe from the diff etc will stop that , not sure whats on the right side of your car to make that worse than the other tho .

i guess the first thing to do would be to determine exactly when your cars smoking, i.e. hot, cold, on boost, off boost, idle, overrun etc etc then work from there as there are different factors that could cause it to smoke in each situation

Hope this helps
