Yeh i wud of said tappets my cossie does it when cold to. Where can you get the lifter lube from and how much does it cost. I bought so new tappets months ago but i think they are cheap ones. Ive spoke to a few people and they said if i fitted the cheap tappets they would just start to rattle again in a few months.
my small turbo escort randomly does this when cold, depending on how long its stood - i've been told one of the followers is loosing its oil and takes a minute or two to re-fill.
I'll prob change them over the winter.

Cheap tappets will rattle, all the time, after a few months.
Piston slap is a knocking sound, like a dull thud, best oil is a top synthetic, 15W/50 is best.
Tappets are available from Matt Lewis 01922 692424, he sells the GENUINE ones which are INA, I recently fitted a set from him myself, and it is SILENT, whether stood a week or fully hot, no noise at all.
