I would check ur spark plugs 2 start off with. Then i would take them out and stick them in the spark plug leads 1 at a time n crank the car 2 make sure they r sparking then put the plugs in each spark plug lead n make sure there all ok. If you can get hold of a compression tester and check your compression in your cylinders. You can also buy little node lights that go into your fuel injector connectors 2 make sure the ecu is working.

IF it's been ok till now I'd suggest one of the spark plugs has given up due to being flooded by the fact you keep starting it up and not driving it!

new plugs job done

ps it could also be stale petrol but I doubt it's that

As alvyn says, most likely plug fouling, they do NOT like being run like this, and soon foul the plugs.

then it's possible a sticking valve/valves on that cylinder(once you start using it again then it should rectify itself)!

You could then try some engine cleaner in the oil, I use WYNN's to fantastic effect, every oil change, not a speck of black anywhere, was gunged to hell when I got the car.

Have you identified the problem cylinder?.
Are the plugs wet or dry when you check them?
