Ford Fair Show&Shine = SHAMBLES!!!!
Well some of you who were doing Show & Shine yesterday will know what im talking about, and certainly the organisers WILL!!!
Right then, so i arrive at 8am, bit later than everyone else
And im cleaning and polishing til about 1 o clock
Now as far as i am concerned, all other entrants are concerned and it even stated on my letter about show & shine, that judging will take place between 1 and 3
So everyone is pretty much done, and we are ALL stood by our cars waiting for them to be judged.
Now alot of the entrants including myself entered last year, now the judges came round the cars, introduced themselves, looked round the car, asked us to close the doors open the bonnet, boot, doors etc... marking the car and then putting a sticker on the windscreen to say it had been judged
So there we are, all stood round, asking each other if there car had been judged. But still no one had even seen a judge, let alone some guy with a clip board!!
Now the problem is, and everyone else agreed..................this is what hacked us off the most
You spend however long prepping your car before the show, then at the show you spend all morning cleaning and polishing the car, knowing that it will be judged between 1 and 3 o clock. So you know that once it has been judged you can go and enjoy the show!!
DO YOU KNOW HOW MANY SHOW&SHINE PEOPLE DID NOT GET TO LOOK AROUND THE SHOW??? A FUCKING LOT
How pissed were we when we had to go and ask when our cars were going to be judged as we were ALL still waiting. And to be told, 'have a word with the judges after the winners have been announced'
What the fuck was that about you dopey twat
So 4 o clock came, winners were announced, some stupid curly haired dude speaking into a mic where the speakers were the other side of the track
So once all that was done, and i swear almost ALL the show&shine entrants went and complained, all stood together explaining how SHIT this year was and why was it done like this
And some bloke just stood there with an answer to everything, typical prick and then when asked why we had paid extra for shitty show&shine, he told us, 'to pay for our party tonight'
COCK.
Now i have put this post up as everyone i spoke to was so annoyed and angry that they were all going to do the same on their forums, as it really was a joke this year.
Why make it shit this year?????

Shows are for showing your car and looking at others - if your going to clean your car all day surely do it at home.
I like my car clean and flawless but im not driving 150 miles to clean it all day again.
You missed a good show

So what time did you get the car judged Nick? Also, why was it not a proper concours event this year? The biggest Frod show in Europe and they don't do concours?
Don't suppose it went towards the logbooks either then?
Your car looked good mate!

Firstly I think a lot of the replies on here are not called for, if it's not your thing fine, but there's no need to rip the piss out of those that do enjoy concours, show and shine etc.
Sorry to hear about your day Nick, I didn't know there was a mess up with the judging.
Personally I thought Show and Shine was a rubbish idea for Ford Fair. Ford Fair should have concours, it's a simple as that, all those cars for three prizes, one being an interior prize meaning a standard car has virtually no chance of winning it. Hopefully Fast Ford will realise that they've made a mistake and bring bakc concours, otherwise they'll be a lot less entrants next year and a lot more people using it as a secure car park!
Car looked ace by the way!

Surprised you risked taking your car out of the vacuum sealed box that it doubtless lives in
Why not save yourself all the stress, and simply sell the car, and by a vase. Easier to keep clean!

I think the reason they didnt do concours was because the small minority were so good that nobody else could compete and was not giving everyone a chance, or something like that.
The way I look at it, is that these guys are keeping their cars in this condition............for me to buy in a few years time. Keep it up guys.
It's also one of the reasons I never got into the Show Scene (Concourse) because as much as I enjoyed polishing the underside of the Cossie, and making sure every nut and bolt looked like new, I wanted to go and enjoy the show, not spend all day polishing it again and waiting for someone to eventually get around the examining the car.
I enjoyed looking around the various trade stands, spending time trying to hunt down that bargain, watching the cars on track, and trying to get a few laps after the judging was complete, and if your doing even working class, it makes it impossible to do all three. So I decided to keep my car in concourse condition, but never wanted to enter the actual event. I could see that some cars were better than mine, and some were not as good. But I wasn't willing to miss out on all the other events that were going on, just for the sake of saying " I won a trophy" at whatever event.
Everyone to their own, and I enjoy looking at the concourse cars, it gives you ideas for your own, and the guys are always willing to chat (Cos they're just stood waiting for the judges to turn up.......LOL)
Each to their own............and we do appreciate the work that goes into them...it's just a shame that you have to commit the whole day (Show) to polishing your car and waiting for judging and missing out on all the other good things going on around..........I'd rather be doing other things.

I can understand you being pissed off, but i can also agree with some of the comments. Its a car, use it. Clean it before you go, if it gets a bit dirty and doesnt win so what youll still get people looking at it telling you how mint it is.......
I love a mint, clean car but spending all day at a show cleaning is crazy

I personally take the time to clean my car so that it is in concours condition, that way people can appreciate the car more and the effort that has gone into restoring it. Whats that point spending time to get the car how you really want it and then can't be arsed to keep it clean??? Now thats crazy!!!
And I DO drive my car.
they didnt do concours this year because of all the complaints they always get from people about how it is judged, one of the main complaints being why cars sometimes win which are under 2 years old (sometimes under 1 year old) which obviously dont take anything like as much work to make look new as a 70s, 80s or 90s ford.
i like driving my motors more than cleaning them, but i always get a good buzz out of seeing concourse fords at shows, especially the old ones which are like a glimpse back in time to see how they originally would have been. normally you would never get the opportunity! and its obviously very popular going on the amount of punters you always see having a good butchers around the minters.

My car was on the INTERFORD stand right next to the SHOW & SHINE.
I pulled up on my stand at about 9.15 and saw them all polishing.Checked mine and there were just a few flies on the front of the bonnet.
I just spat on the bonnet and wiped them off with my t-shirt.
One of the show & shine boys gave me a right dirty look.
I take it L3 COS won every thing.

well i do concours and did show and shine i also use it almost everyday i just like to keep my car in showroom condition if your not into this sort of thing fook off and start your own thread instead of hyjacking this one and go and spitt on your cars if thats what you realy thimk of them clowns
if fellas werent into cleaning their cars and displaying them then there would be no 'show' ,it would be just a load of cars buzzing round the track, which id mild entertainment at best. it talks all sorts to make up what is the best ford show on the go
I was fortunate enough to win my catagory last year in the concours and was this year invited to opt out of the show and shine for the Best of Ford Fair stand. After investigation I was told the concours was removed due to complaints and deminishing numbers.
However, I believe concours will be brought back next year as show and shine really doesn't work for such a vast variety of Fords.
Would be interested in knowing which cars won what though ?
As for cleaning the cars to concours, its more than a passion for owning a mint car, its a medical condition.
