Default does a yb bolt onto a fwd gearbox?

been thinking about this,i know years ago all ford box`s were interchangable between each other.
could you say bolt a cossie engine onto a mondeo st24 6 speed without mods or adaptor plate.

how cool would a front engined yb be in a mondy, sensible mods of course

anyone had any experience,probily martoon?

a FWD YB has been done a number of times, most cars that have had them in apparently handle pretty poorly

theyre so bastard heavy compared to a cvh or zetec so would fuck up weight distribution in a escort or fiesta, iirc though the V6 lumps weigh alot too so should make to much of an issue in a mondy.

YBs were meant to be mounted longditudinally in a Sierra - the Escort Cosworth was designed to fit the engine, and is incidentally, a stumpy Sierra.

The zetec has the same standard bolt pattern from what I remember, so you should be able to use a MTX75, or the Getrag 6 speed gearbox from the ST170. The v6 duratecs will have a different bolt pattern as do the newer 4 pot duratecs.

The zetec is no feather weight, but at least with the YB the exhaust will be at the back so the weight of the turbo will behind the front wheels. You'd be better of with 2.3 turbo duratec than the YB IMO as it's a lot lighter than either the zetec or YB.
