start it with a blend, say 20% oil and 80% diesel

and see how it is from there

increase the dosing until you find the performance drops or the smell becomes too much.

be prepared to change the filters alot more often, and remember used vegetable oil is better than new

oh....and pay the duty on it (about 35p a litre), all the forms are available from

www.hmrc.org.uk

good luck

thats the same reason people dont use red diesel, its readily available to all they are just shit scared of getting caught using it (hefty fines, bans), the same laws are in place for people who abuse the use of vegetable oil.....its exactly the same thing. i dont understand why people dont approach that with the same amount of caution

Never been stopped. Although I wouldn't run the risk of running red. Running a diesel is cheap enough

It isnt good for th pump....

There isnt the lubruication in vegi oil that there is in diesel....

your better off buy bio diesel thats about 8p a litre cheaper than diesel and much better for the pump

Its not the veg oil that is the problem for lubricating the pump.

Its the glycerine in the veg oil that thickens it up and causes problems with the pump. Hence you have to get the clycerine out with chemical reactions and such shite like that

Glycerine is added at the time of blending the veg oil to stop it going "off" over time

red diesel is not allowed to be used in a car tho is it? So your guilty from the start.

You could use oil, pay for tax on a few litres a year, how they going to prove how much you have used

thats bullshit red derv is only for use for agricultual vehicles such as tractors and plant machinery, its untaxed and actually against the law to use it on the road vehicle unless its been approved, chip fat isnt against the law to use it just states that you must keep a record of it and tell the tax man at the end of the year, soo unless you have no common sense you cant get done, and as to thinking about actually paying the tax man WHY u might as well spend 1pound a litre on white!

RED diesel, is allowed to be used oin the road by those that are allowed mainly farmers etc.
My friend has been running HEATING OIL for 7 years, on his RANGE ROVERS, now on a 54 reg one without problem.
Every year at MOT time on his others he was told "JESUS IT RUNS CLEAN".
We add 2% KLOTZ TECHNIPLATE to the mix which works out at 11p a litre, spelt ELEVEN PENCE A LITRE.
Veg oil can be used without problem, but add a teaspoon of castor oil to every 10 litres.
Any yes it is UNDETECTABLE , as it has no dye in it, and heating oil is so much more refined than heavy crude(diesel), it comes from a slight different part of the tower to start with.
We had an engine that had over 200,000 miles on it always from day one run on heating oil, it also goes much better and does not smoke even when cold.
Buy your heating oil in the summer it's cheaper, my friend has a business and it uses heating oil, oddly the business uses as much oil in the summer as winter!!

chip fat is against the law the use, unless you prepay the duty on it, otherwise everyone would run it then when caught claim it was their first tank
