Default Need Some Advice

i currently have a erst s2 setup which is running 180+ at the wheels with a pace chargecooler setup.
as i now want more power, would i benefit any extra power by installing a intercooler system and a uprated turbo?

my setup is as follows:
standard bottom end with new mahle pistons and arp bolts
stage 3 head (ported, polished etc)
standard factory t3 turbo with a new -31 actuator
original ford head gasket
kent cvh 34 cam setup with KA pulley
k&n airfilter
everything else is standard i.e metering head, no fifth injector.

is it anyhow possible to achieve more power or torque with the current setup as i dont want to spend alot of money in doing so.

hi,found charge coolers abit restrictive so i then put a front mount cooler on (radtec)t3 with .48a/r housing 55trim comp wheel, standard head, cam and rods machined mahle pistons.peaks @26psi and holds22psi unlimited boost chip pressurised the fuel press reg..still on mfi rolling roaded at SCS with print out 206bhp at wheels and 274lbft!!! altough only done 2.5k like this but NO probs yet!!!the only big issue is the g/box it chews them!

yes you would benefit from a front mount loads better than a chargecooler dont need a new turbo stick with the one you have till you have funds for a bigger one then do that aswell

what would be the best turbo upgrade to look into mate, if i were to get a large i/c and turbo together?
also dnt forget that i dont intend to change the fueling system so would i be ok installing a larger i/c and turbo with the standard mfi fuel system?

Sorry guys, but 180@ the wheels on a Standard T3 and with a standard Pace Chargecooler??

I'd be very surprised if that car makes 180 at the flywheel, let alone the wheels.

Also, 105epwr, a few years ago, my RST made 220@ wheels on SCS Dyno, but was only actually 180 at the flywheel (proved this on more than one other dyno).

180@the wheels is a much harder figure to reach than I think people realise.

In answer to your question though, a uprated Intercooler is a must. Those Chargecoolers are no good for beyond 18psi IMO, even that far is a push.

Agree 100% with what Christian has just said

Your mods are

Chargecooler
stage 3 head (ported, polished etc)
kent cvh 34 cam setup
Obviously a chip and exhaust of some sort.

BTW how much boost were you using to get 180 ATW

Dyno printout @ Torque of Devil

boost was measured 18psi max with a new -31 actuator, so wat i/c is best for the escort as i have a pro alloy one on my fiesta turbo and find it suitable for the that setup

A recent RR set up @SCS i saw 241.7 bhp@4949 rpm @flywheel and 274.1 lbft @4439 so wot u saying?i should maybe try another rolling road?? it has a 5 or so second spike of 26PSI to be honest sounds good to me plus thats why SCS are one of the best known tuners.

Blimey...274 foot pounds of torque is a hell of alot, big boost spike but even so, wouldn't have thought it would make those figures with that spec, which is basically a standard engine runnin alot of boost!! As c+b said above don't know if u'd achieve those figures at every rolling road! Not tryin to be negative, i just know how much needs to go into makin a genuine 250 ish bhp cvh running a T3, if i could have got those figures on a standard engine i wouldn't have bothered!

Assuming that Harvery's dyno is still the same one as he had when I used to go there (5+ years ago), he used to tell me to take the figures with a pinch of salt back then.

As I said earlier, my car made 220@Wheels there and went on to make 180odd at the Flywheel on a newer Dyno.

Also, 274lb/ft to me suggests wheelspin on the rollers, which is what you would expect with a big boost spike, which would then make the figures innaccurate.

i see wot u all are saying, its a stge 3 hybrid with 55trim comp wheel, cossie 2wd ex housinge ect, c/r of 7.6:1...steel rods, crank etc etc wont give me more power i no.thats why i didnt opp for these
the rollers harvey has now are different to that analoge one u prob are talking about its a later one plugged up to a lap top etc with a printer which i have!
how do u post pics?so i can show u?i emit the torque curve peaks very quick @4000rpm(wen 26psi comes through)274lbft then by 5200rpm its tails off then 6300rpm its like 220lbft
harvey did drive it and sed its fucking lethal!!which it is the g/box will agree.ring harvey (01733576614)he no's the car (black mk3cab)ask him how and why
APT (c+b )is that your tuning shop?do u have a rr as your not far from me

trust me your figures from harvey are too high for the spec. i used to use harvey and my car was making something stupid like 240bhp at fly with minimal mods!! i couldnt see how it could make that power so went somewhere else. on APT's rollers it made a much more believeble 186bhp at fly.

if c+b are saying that 105epwrs cab running 274lbft cant be proper figures as it would wheel spin on the rollers then if yours is more touque than his then surely yours would wheelspin and your figures are wrong aswell??
