Default My New Engine......Decent spec YB..have a look

Just put my name to this engine, not going to say what I paid but it was a fair price for what it is....rebuilt 3600 miles ago with paperwork to prove, all receipts for work done etc...

CYLINDER HEAD IS GAS FLOWED AND PORTED
DB 10`S
BRONZE VALVE GUIDES PLUS NEW STEM SEALS
3 ANGLED CUT THROATS
MODIFIED INLET MANIFOLD MATCHED TO HEAD
WITH FUEL RAIL INJECTORS
KENT COMPETITION CAM FOLLOWERS
200 BLOCK
SUMP AND CROSS SHAFT
LOW COMP PISTONS
CLEANED AND POLISHED COMBUSTION CAMBERS
UPRATED STAGE 1 FAST ROAD CLUTCH
ENGINE REBUILT WITH GROUP A HEADGASKET AND TIMING BELT
L8 ECU & GOOD CONDITION LOOM + SENSOR PRESENT AND WORKING

What sort of power has this engine been built for do you think? I have a 5-bar map sensor and some 1000cc injectors on their way what kind of power could I acheive realistically with these cams etc.....I know its over 400bhp (which was my ballpark before this came along)...

Place your bets now!

surely the turbo will decide the bhp of the engine, with a standard 4x4 t3 i doubt it would make much more than 300-330 bhp at a push.

not really mate, if i put a T90 (if there is such a thing) does that make it a 800bhp engine?

So regardless of turbo spec what is the engine capable of is the question im asking...i'm happy with 400bhp so anything else is a bonus really.

HOw long is peice of string tbh, as all goes down to who built your engine. Best persont o speak to would be who built the engine.

so its basically a low comp engine with a ported head and BD10's? t3 = 330/340 max really, t34 .63 = 400hp at a push.

what injectors?

Agree with Rhys also will it be a strong reliable 400+ engine?

well your group a head gasket will be the point were most wouldnt push past 400 bhp you will need to be wire rung to be able to use a group a head gasket to beyound 400 bhp with out fail multy layer shim would have been better ...its not a 500 bhp engine

good info cheers matey, was going to get it wire rung anyhow when it's stripped and inspected at my tuners...if he's happy then it'll go back together with a wire rung block....if he's not happy then it's rebuild time

I know its not a 500bhp engine....if its capable of running 400 then i'm happy as I got it (full setup) for a good price.

Cheers

Would I squeeze 450 out of this spec with the right turbo? or am I in BD14 inlet territory then?

Cheers

i belive that if you used a bd14 inlet and used a better head gasket and use a good turbo i cant see why you wount be near 450/480 bhp

I've always been under the impression that cossie h/gaskets rarely fail around the firing ring, its normally around the oil/water galleries?

Which kind of makes wire ringing them pointless?

I could be wrong though?

you don't need uprated cams for 400bhp.
