They certainly look happy unlike a lot of "puppy farm" dogs!

yeah i know what you mean mate there just like battery hens

i dont agree with mass breeding and keeping them in huge kennels they need to be loved and looked after properly plus there used to being handled by my little sis too so they should be good with kids

well the thing with the tails is there were and still are classed as working dogs and they found that there tails were always being injured or getting ripped off or having to be aputated but the trend stayed and was able to dock the tails just for pets its a very simple proceedure

now all of a sudden after all these years they decide to make it illegal

to be honest there you dont really notice after a while

see unfortunately the tv has given you nightmares

that dog has basiclly been given no training and brought up like a guard dog and given a few slaps for his trouble so that has been bred into him if you ask me the owner should be locked up as i think thats more cruel than having the tail docked

i have 2 adult rotties at home and they are as soppy as anything mate yeah they do bark when people come in etc so does every dog that dont know someone but its down to the owner to have trained it well

unfortunately rottweilers have a very bad name for such a wrong reason

Problem there was the shit owner, not the dog, a well reared family pet rotty wont do that to you, it less likely to than one of your brothers or sisters are in fact, they are far more predictable than people, lol

A friend of mine has one and his kids think it is a horse and climb all over it and it doesen't do a thing. I often wonder how the dog can take all the punishment the kids throw at it but it does. Infact last time I went it was having a bath and not through choice as the kids decided it needed one. Any dog can be vicious it all depends on how it is traind I think.

Some dogs are genetically predisposed to being violent, but ultimately their upbringing is a FAR bigger factor.

A "junkyard labrador" would still rip you to shreds potentially

Some dogs like pitbulls though, its never really a great idea to have round kids as they are too excessively bred for violence and you cant really educate it out of them.

Rottweilers are actually NOT particuarly bred to be violent I believe, they were bred to carry things and be loyal and calm and part of a well behaved pack, yes they also defended it, but not in a mindless way.

Im sure Phil or B16ROB or someone can give a better description of them but essentially they are NOT bred primarily as attack dogs.

yep thats very true chip they originate from a town called rotwil (sp)

the farmers bred them and used them for working on the farms pulling things due to the big briskets also where there big chunky and look the part when the farmers went to town to sell there produce the little sack of money they had went round the dogs neck to protect incase the farmers got too drunk

as surreal as it sounds its actually in a rottweilerbook we have

nah i doubt you'd be blamed if being attacked like that but if scrap yards own dogs like that then it is down to them to make sure it is secured for sure or they can get done for man slaughter and have the dog put down too when its not really the dogs fault

but i hear what your saying too but it seriously is down to these half wit arseholes that think having a mean looking dog is cool and teach it to attack people

Brom, I dont think that your limited exposure to dogs (the media and scrapyards) is giving you a balanced picture to be honest mate

The lad down the road from me has one as he has a lot of enemies. He has trained that to be vicious and it is. I have taken my Sih-Tzu to training classes and he is still vicious. He has to be sedated when he is groomed as he is so vicious. I've always found the little dogs to be the vicious ones and the bigger dogs to be big softies.

Every morning when my dad gets out of bed for the toilet my dog will go and get into his bed and wait for him to come back just so he can hang off his bollocks. My dad has to get me out of bed to move him. As sad as it sounds if I am not in he has gone to the couch.

And my brother who thinks he is the local hard man has been chased down the street by him more than once...

Benni.

A morning in the bowel of the toilet for your dog would probably cure that, your dad should chuck him in there before he goes for a piss tomorrow

He wouldn't dare try and pick him up as he is too fat, old and slow. The dog always manages to twist himself around and take a chunk out of his finger. Last time it kicked off he was haning from his pyjamas. You can't buy this kind of entertainement on DVD so I haven't botherd to stop him.

He has tried to have it put down lots of times but when my sister becomes upset he gives in and we get another chance. Altough when she gave him a hug to say thankyou for giving me another chance to train him the dog didn't like him being so close and took a giant chunk out of his left arse cheek.

I got locked in a scrapyard by accident once, thank fook they didn't have a nutty guard dog

I met my dad's new dog at the weekend for the first time. This thing's nuts, it's a little staffy and he comes at you, tail wagging, drooling like fook, and starts jumping up at you, trying to get you to stroke him lolol.

I love dogs though, my dad always had them but my mum wouldn't have one, so I only got to see them at my dad's. I think my dad having dogs probably stopped me from developing a fear of them after one went for me when I was a toddler.

We were just walking down the street and as I passed this open gate, an alsatian just lunged out and clamped its jaws round my arm, nutty fooker!

Never put me off tho. Deffo all about the upbringing.

My step brother years ago nicked a rottie out of someone's garden because this dog was treated like shit and was absolutely scared to death of people. The owners beat her so badly that she would hit the deck in the blink of an eye if you raised your hand to get something out of a cupboard, or scrath your head etc. Lucy she was called. Poor thing had been treated that badly that she associated any raised hand with an imminent beating.

Thank god they took her out of there before the bastards killed her.

Look loverly, would love to be able to have a dog. But as Chip said you need to be home most of the time to look after them.
