what if you replied to the NIP saying it WAS you driving and they then didnt do anything for 6 months since the date of offense?
can i tell em to go fuck themselves next week as it will have been 6 months?
ps jase, you dont want my £15 lol?

Assuming the first NIP was sent out within 14 days the speeding ticket is still valid and you'll probably get three points and a fine for that.
The failure to notify thing is serious though and can carry a big fine or worse - but if they prove you trying to get someone else to take the points that is definitely jail time.
Get yourself onto Pepipoo.co.uk for more info - the folks there will know if it's too late to do anything.

Dan - Oops - didn't twig to two of you in the same boat! Yours should time out next week if you don't hear from them, though they have an extra 28 days to do the Failing to Notify offence.
Jase - you really do need to have a look on Pepipoo - really helpful bunch over there, though I chickened out and took my points!

from the date of offence they have 14 days to process and send you an nip from return of that they have a maximuim of six months to issue a summons, if you fail to identify they will accept that but it is law that you know who what where when etc etc etc your car is was etc etc driven by, so they will prsecute for that and give larger fines, if a company vehicle then its usually the secretary or director that gets the fine not often but the points as well, getting a mate to take your points the days of that are neer as damn it over, do not any one do it now, it is a 90% chance of jail time
