Twin 40's on My Zetec Help
I have a 130ps zetec and I am just wondering about the current setup
My current fuel pump (as standard) fuel injection pump feeding that is likely to be throwing fuel at the injector rail at a pressure of 20 – 30 psi (it needs to be that high to allow it to be ‘injected’ instead of ‘dribbled’)
Ripping the fuel injection off and replacing it with the carbs/Webbers/twin 40’s means you i have an injection fuel delivery system feeding a non injection carb system … and that’s a slight problem in my mind.
Carbs only need a fuel pressure of around 3.5 psi as the fuel is basically dropped into the front part of the carb and then sucked into the engine by the choke & venture mechanisms within the carb body.
Thoughts been ?
I believe the standard fuel pump will fire to much what can I do to control the amount of fuel in psi coming into it then ? If you dispense of the regulator the carbs will be flooded in a matter of milliseconds which will both flood the engine and also p1ss fuel out of the carbs and dump it onto your lovely hot engine …
Any help and suggestions, sorry for the poorly described content

ive contacted burtons regarding the efi to carb fuel regualtor but the psi is still to high at 5psi
so theres an adjuster that gives 1 to 5 psi as well so this is 2 devices
it may look a bit "busy" under the bonnet but wondering if this would work ?
sound about right ?

You only need a suction pipe from the tank, is the existing pump on the car internal or external fuel pump ?

have heard run a mk5a esc hcs fuel tank and use external face t pump etc

If you can get a tank that has a stub at the bottom which gravity feeds to the external fuel pump, i'd adapt off that to some normal braided or plastic fuel pipe, run this to the facet pump then under the car to the filter king/regulator then onto the carbs...
It's a really easy install as you only have the one pipe to run, the carbs dont need a tank return pipe..

I would stick to the two regulators personally.
You never know after running it with carbs you might just want to go throttle bodies afterwards.
you need a metro turbo regulator which drops the pressure down to about 9psi then a normal regulator to drop it further down to about 3psi.
I use Eurocarb to buy my stuff from.

i used to run a pug mi years ago with this type of regulator on it

adjust to what you want & the rest of the fuel returns to the tank.never had any problems with it at all.
