removing valve's
I suppose you could leave the head on and take the pistons out from the bottom, but you'd never get them back in again.
Head off time unfortunatly. Get used to doing head gaskets if you're keeping a cossie.
And, if you're taking a valve out cause it might be bent, get the head checked out for cracks and stuff too. Might save you a job in the future.

A garage didn't know if it was possible to remove valves with the engine and block mated?
I'm presuming this is one of those garages run by 3 year old children then?
Jesus christ, you could possibly get them out(socket, extension and a hammer) but never, EVER get them back in.
