Default Cossie Stage 3 Boost Settings - Greddy Profec B Spec 2

Hi All,

Just wondering what Greddy Profec B boost settings others on here are using on there cars ? (Or other boost controllers for that matter)

My setup consists of a Turbo Technics T34.55, Garrett -31 actuator, L8 ECU, Siemens 55's and MSD map to peak 32psi and hold 28psi.

At present the cars only peaking 28psi and dropping back boost as the revs increase.

Heres the current controller settings:-

Set:- 90%
Gain:- 10%
Start Boost:- 18psi

Interested to know what others think about the Greddy Profec B aswell ?

I've not used the Profec unit but it does depend on your base actuator pressure to what settings you use.

With the ones I've used the "gain" settting controls the boost spike in the midrange and makes it come on boost a little bit faster but you shouldn't go too high as it will struggle to control the hold setting.

Ive got a Garrett -31 actuator fitted, which has a 9 psi base lift.

Should this peak 32psi through a boost controller ?

Im afraid I dont have a Profec, but I do use the Blitz SBCi Boost Controller, which operates a similar system.

The answer to the above is yes, but you should consider going for the Dash -34, which I found to be more reactive, and generally better.

The gain in my experience on mine was better at about 15%. The higher settings are only useful for external wastegates. Find out what works best for you, but Mine is usually between 10 and 15. If you are finding it surging up and down a lot (frequently) you probably have the gain too high.

The set level should be set up with a boost gauge, but remember that it will vary depending on conditions (ambient ext air temp etc).

I use the target boost settings on the Blitz which means it boosts till it finds the right level, and then stops, though I must admit, the normal % set mode gives better response.

So basically, set the level to suit the desired boost level.

Hope this helps

JJ,

So you had to fit the -34 peak and more boost ?

Hi matey - IIRC the dash 34 was set to about 12psi odd in closed connection to the turbo, and then the boost controller does the rest. You cannot use the boost controller spring for any more than this, as the spring will just snap it!

On the std cossie, the amal valve acts as an ECU controlled bleed, but basically it still bleeds off air to make the required boost.

Im surprised to see that there are not more people running boost controllers. I guess that most use the standard amal valve with manual bleed valves to control a set amount of boost.

Many resort to air-air controllers that are controlled by the ECU - I myself prefer a hands on approach (that way I can fuck it up!!!)

I think that if you set to 100% on the blitz, the actuator stays closed.

I may be wrong!

Again, I may be wrong, but my understanding is that the boost gain is a % of the air that will be allowed to pass. If the gain is set to 100%, one would expect it to basically bleed all air through the solenoids. To be fair, if you have it set as high as 100%, then it prob isnt quite right.

Mine I believe at max boost setting is at about 90% IIRC.

Ill switch to the Garrett -34 as suggested as this seems the only way to peak and hold more boost with my Greddy Profec B.
