Default Snapped Bolt !

S H I T E

A strut to hub nut , has a fooking diamater of aboout 15mm , lovely.

The head of the bolt has snapped off , with the remains of the bolt stuck in the hub.

Best way to get it out , and I have a welder if that helps ?

Default Snapped Stud Removal

Drill the center of the remaining stud, 4mm (5/32) should be ok then using an Eazi-out slowly but firmly turn the eazi-out ANTI clockwise at the same time gently tapping the eazi-out with a hammer.... DONT belt it, just enough to stop it slipping, whilst still turning, and the stud should come free.. Might be wise to soak with WD40 first and let it soak... Hope this helps....Wilmot (Liege-Belgium)

Is an eazi out not used on a drill ?

If a 2 foot breaker bar couldnt get this bolt out , surely its still going to be difficult ?

As the hubs are cast best bet is to drill it out and try retap if not drill out next size up and use bolt all the way through.
EASI out are going to get laughed at as you say a breaker bar won't shift it!!, I assume it is broken in the threaded section if the hub ?

When I say hub I am considering lower arm the same

The bolt is the strut to arm clamp bolt and its snapped just under the surface.

What about welding something to it to lever it ?

If it is stuck so bad that it has snapped bolt it needs to come off the car and have loads of heat applied, god it must have been done up tight!!
Not being funny but it might be a lot less hassle just getting another one from scappies ?
Otherwise heat drill and use SQUARE BOLT OUTs, or even better if you can get then windouts.
There is virtually no chance even that if you got something welded on there it would hold not forgetting that orignall material is weak hence why it broke!!
Personally if it were mine, I'd be at the scrappy, with all you need to do to rescue this one INTACT so you can use it again ?

ps next time use loads of coppaslip or similar in bolt holes/on threads!!
