Just changed my SFS boost hoses for new Samco ones (less joins...less chance of leakage!! ) and found some oil in the hose that goes from the air box to the turbo inlet.

I get no smoke what so ever on startup or when boosting so i'm not too worried, just wondered if this was normal or if I have problem, cos i cant think where it would come from other than the turbo?!

The oil is probably entering the airbox through the breather system

If theres no oil in any other hose i wouldn't worry

Might be worthwhile uprating the breather system though, the oil will make that hose go soft and break down, and thats a very common hose to collapse when on boost, obviously because the turbo is sucking all that air through it

Yeah no oil in any of the others, i'll give my breathers a clean out!

 

I expect your oil control filter is due a change, they are serviceable items every 40,000 IIRC

I changed the oil and filter about 3000 miles ago.

Look at the breather connection on the rocker cover and it goes into what i describe as a "round black thing"

As said i wouldn't worrie about it to much if it's not alot as 90% of them have a bit of oil in the hose's just give the breather pipes a good clean out that will help

 

Well to put it in perspective, if you walked into a Ford dealership looking for one, which do you think they are more likely to understand

A) Oil Control Filter
B) Round Black Thing

 

If i didn't have the part number for something like that i wouldn't even bothere trying ford i can just imagine trying to explain what it is to them

 

Halfrauds sell that Round Black Oil Control Filter Thing for about 3 quid iirc
