Default Just got back from Isle of Man

I have to say - what a fantastic place!

I went there on business and was a little wary, cos I had heard that the locals can be unfriendly. I have to say that this was not my impression at all! Everyone was very very nice to me, and the island was fantastic!

I am not a biker type - I like to stay alive!!! - but the roads there are just great. The speed limit over there is the same as here except for the National Speed limit signs, which over there means - as fast as you like so long as it is safe!

To be fair this common sense approach works well. Despite what the government over here would have you believe, when you can go any speed you like, people tend not to bother for most of the time! Simple really - if you can have something any time you like, you dont have it all the time. If you cant, you want it all the time!!!!

The mountain pass road was unbelievable - will post a couple of snaps.

So in a nutshell - go there - its great!

No MOT either so you can have some wild and wacky vehicles on the road.

I love the place and they have a capital with a great name!

Cheers,

DOUG.

Doug - you could be doug from doug!

I quite like Castletown by the airport. Apparently the Jeaned man himslef (Clarkson) has purchased a house out on one of the points. This is where they were fishing that time when they went there for top gear!

I particularly like the tax rates

An 11 % flat rate is a bit of a sweetner!

Apparently it is quite hard to move there and the government are quite strict on admissions.

Not necessarily - depends on what you do for a living. Basically, you need a work permit for the first five years, and before you can have the job, they need to prove that someone on the island cant do the job. Once you have been there for 5 years, you are a resident proper!

Want to go there

Do it! You know it makes sense. Must admit, a bit of a pain to get there by sea, but have an overwhemling urge to take the M5 over!!!
