If it's fitted to a CVH and was made by either Piper or Kent, then chances are it's worn.

Seriously though, it's hard to tell because with Hydraulic followers, they take up alot of the wear, so the only real way to tell is to take it out and look.

works out just over £300 if u buy the cam, double valve springs + caps and mechanical followers (essential)... add onother 80 quid if u want the newman vernier as well... good price.

Depends on your spec. Under 200bhp and I would say that the standard cam will be fine.

There isn't a CVH on the planet without a worn cam

From all the experiences i have had, if the cam is worn enough to affect performance, it will also be tapping as it chews the followers up and they can no longer take up the clearance in the valve train.

you can also tell a lot by removing the cam and inspecting the lobes

Last week we pull a cvh 35 out of a 2.1 which has been running 30+ psi and done about 10k and in a word it was f@#ked.

We also have a 1.6 rst running a piper cam for the last 7k and now wont rev about 5k so thats jsut about to be taken out and inspected.

Cheers,

Jim
