Any 3 wire lambda sensor will do the job ok.

They are the narrow band type.

I.E. they ONLY read accurate around the stoichmetric correct value.
This is the point of complete fuel combustion.

The sensors only work for idle and LIGHT loads only.

During high boost conditions (usually 5psi above) the sensor is not
used to tune the end and the ecu will revert back to the predefined map.

Hope that helps.

I have just converted my 2WD to L8 with closed loop, and I used the aftermarket narrowband 3 wire sensor, which works fine.

As stated, it is only used for off boost stuff, and helps lots.

Speak to Stu at MSD, who I think will sell you either the genuine one, or the 3 wire one as you need!

for £30 i will fit 1 anyway, and i have a AFR gauge to so might as well get 1.

wont wire it up till it goes for mapping anyway as the chip is from a non lamba car.

cheers

jay, y do i need the cos one over a universal one? they all do the same, i thought the difference in car specific lambas was the lenght of wires and the plugs on the end of the cables??

Narrow band AFRs are a complete waste of time on tuned turbo cars imho.

Wideband if you want to know what is actually happening

Depends. Mine has a wideband lamnda sensor which goes to a controller box (tech edge). Mine is capable of producing a simulated narrow band output. This gives a voltage output that matches the ECUs expectations.

So the short answer is probably!

Most use one for the ECU and a separate boss welded into the zorst for the gauge!

If you are in the SW I am happy to show you mine - so as to speak!

This is what I did!

I use the boss closest to the turbo for the ECU (given that it is more important!)

I have another boss a little lower that I use for the Wideband. I intend to try using the wideband controller for a simulated narrowband output as an experiment, though this will be only for the sake of my curiousity.

I bought the Track Tech setup, which I am very pleased with. Others use different.

Either way, visit their website, it tells you an unbelievable amount about the technology and the sensors etc. Start below...

Enjoy!

Agree with this - unless you wire up the heater, in which case, it makes no odds unless I am mistaken?

Beware of cheap ones.
I tested a LOT of them on Cosworths before finally opting for teh ones i now supply. Its a hostile environment.
