can a zvh rev ?
alot of people have told me not to do a zvh conversion because they dont like to rev
but in this months performance ford theres a red zvh that tops 166 mph so what is the secret in getting a zvh to rev ?

Thanks for the compliment Rick.
The gearbox has standard ratios with a 3.5 final drive on 205 40 16 tyres.
The basic revability of an engine is defined by its bore to stroke ratio.
The YB lump has a larger bore than stroke so it can rev harder
A bike engine is even more revable, even bigger bore to stroke
The ZVH 2.0 like mine 85mm bore 88mm stroke
But you can influance the power band with the cam timing. I was at almost 7000 rpm at 166

thats great a think you must be one of the first to make a zvh rev that high
whens the power tailing off ?
Sunny ZVH creation revved well past 7k and that was about 5 years ago lol
Simon's car is truely a monster! I must admit i did have a few doubts regarding his power claims etc when i read the mag, however, after meeting him and talking to him...the guy is VERY knowledgable and backs up everything he has said! and IIRC, his 166 run was not even running full boost and a dodgy cylinder bore!
Simon...well done mate! hows the new engine coming on?
bassboy

if this was done 5 years ago why does everyone say they dont rev what so ever dont bother
if sunny was doing it people should say yeah you can make them rev but you need some real big spec like they do zetec turbos

Part of the reason to go all Zetec is because with allowing my CVH head to rev to 7500 it has suffered oil starvation and partly worn away 2 solid followers! meaning the cam is dead, it also has chiped the top of 3 valves!
Bassboy-
The block has been taken out to 86mm to remove the score and is still at the machine shop, pistons are still been made, got a new type of head gasket coming made of resin and steel rings(dont know a lot about it yet), my big valve ST170 head is at the cam builder for a new cam and valve train. I think I will try old turbo again but not sure it will flow enouth air, larger capacity intercooler is yet to be sorted, inlet manifold is still to be made, using a Jamsport tubular exhaust manifold, have started the Gatrag box instalation, still to convert the clutch to hydraulic.
So have a bit of work to do.

sounds ininteresting, surely there are alot of other factors though like flow etc like already mentioned
doesn't a well tuned cvh pull past 7k aswell?
