Me and the girlfriend have bought a house

We're going to fit a new bathroom as the first job...

The house has a Worcester Junior 28i combi boiler which was fitted 2 years ago (at the same time as the central heating system), and a Redring electric shower, which is pish

I need a decent shower (i.e. will supply hot water at a manly pressure and flow rate)

Ideally I fancied a power shower, but this is a no-go with a combi boiler, so:

Will the boiler be up to the job of supplying a conventional shower?

Can electric showers do the business or are they all the same as the one that's fitted (I've seen better watering cans )?

Is it possible to combine a pump and electric shower?

Seems OK really - I ran the hot tap full, it's not as good as my parent's place, but better than some I've seen.

It doesn't come FLYING out of the tap, but it's more than a trickle if you get me.

I'm thinking you probably can't fit a pump to an electric shower unless you have a cold water storage tank - sound right?

You can get VERY good electric power showers now.....Just as long as the cable is man enough for the job

your boiler will have a hot water flow rate off about 10 to 12 L a minute max so as long as you fit a thermostatic mixing shower or evern better a pressure balanceing shower which is designed for combi boilers all will be fine only problem will be if some one opens a hot tap while your having a shower, because if they do the flow will drop right off, but still the best one to go for mate, if i was you i whould get a Mira combiforce this is pressure balanced can be surface mounted or built in looks modern and is a very good shower but will cost over Ł200 but worth it. Just need to run a hot water pipe to the shower as you allready have cold.

that is the EXACT same boiler we have - and yes its more than man enough to run a shower from just s mixer valve ( no electric pumps or heaters needed) our static pressure to the house sits at around 2.5 bar, on a 15mm feed. nice powerful HOT water all the time to the shower,

ONLY thing is if someone opens the hot tap downstairs, you get a cold blast in the shower

Trying to get hold of a plumber mate to see if he has a pressure gauge I can borrow to see what our mains pressure is like...

dont forget now though (after april 2006) even if you are replacing a boiler in an existing dwelling (not renevating the dwelling) it must be a cat A high efficiency condensing boiler
