Default What wiring for fuel pump

Hi guys

I have bought some bits and pieces to improve the cossie, including a group A fuel pump.

My wiring is typically poor. I need advice on two things.

One - Where be the fuel pump relay for the saph rwd cosworth

Two - what wire to be used

Thanks guys

JJ

Use you existing fuel pump feed to trigger a relay. Run a wire directly from the battery through a fuse (near the battery) then through the relay and on to the pump. Also worth replacing the earth to the pump at the same time.

You will find all the bits on here...

I like your thinking! Interesting. The only down side is that the fuel pump wiring is still a part of the system then, and I do not trust it. I dont mind re-wiring the pump, just not sure what gauge of cable to use.

from what ive read and i will be doing the same

you need a new power cable from battery to relay with fuse holder may aswell do earth aswell

trlay

you use the wire that goes from the inertia switch to you fuel pump

this is just to trigger the new really

you still use the original relay etc as its built into the engine loom

then from teh relay new wire is used to the fuel pump

you will have all new wiring bar 1 wire which is to trigger the new relay

theres a threard somewhere that someone did with a simple diagram

ill try and find it for you

Cheers matey!

I will probably do the same, though I must admit, my inertia switch was retired some years ago due to perpetual failure. I had a leaky boot, so you get the picture.

I will check the technical section. As you say, I recall Stu posting something. If I find I will put a url link for gold members.
