Default Cossie Problem

right was on the motorway last night

got off on the slip road

driving home, hit boost and the car started missing/hesitating and making a ppuuuurrrrrpppppp sound

i thought wtf parked up opened bonnet everything seemed ok, carried on going but it was the same

got home took out the plugs, the 3rd plug had its tip missing and was fcuked

so woke up today put in new plugs and leads (to be on safe side)

still same problem, so i thought ive changed everything why not change the fuel filter too, but still same problem

done a compression test, 1,2,4 cyl. are coming up with a reading of 10, but 3rd cylinder is coming with a reading of around 8

anyone know what the problem could be

engine sounds still sweet, absolutely no smoke

all feedback shall be appreciated

unfortunately sounds like it's time to take the head off - I bet your piston isn't looking particularly happy

more likely it's the piston - either way it's time for the head to come off

That sounds right to me thats why you would be down on compression i bet the top of the piston will be pitted like loads of small dents in it and then the bit of plug tip has got in the valve and marked it or bent it a little when its come down and traped the plug tip,

I think the same happened to my mates car.

Best have head off and have a look TBO.

same thing happened on my escort cosworth took head to find that the exhaust valve had a piece missing outta it no damage to piston though

take head off and look at valves and have them all check and lapped back while its off

if it hole in piston it'll be obvious enough
