Default Think I have MAJOR problems.... HELP!!

Still been having problems getting my S1 running right, found the manifold is blowing between it and the turbo flange so decided to remove to fit a metal gasket (also the rad's leaking so removing that to get it pressure tested). Whilst I'm there going to check the wastegate and the actuator.

When I removed the boost hoses I've found oil in them, not just a bit, a fair amount (I could actually pour it out of the bottom boost hose ). There's oil in the metering unit, the turbo, the cross over pipe and in the inlet manifold. I take it this isn't normal and I may have a breather blockage somewhere, but it's fitted with one of the Bailey breather pots so though it'd be ok on this front.

Any advice no matter how trivial would be gratefully appreciated. I'm now that hacked off as it's never run right since I had it (tried getting it set up properly as well), that I'm considering off-loading it / breaking it and going German!!

The metal gaskets melt mate. You'd be better off getting the mating surfaces skimmed flat.

The oil does sound a bit serious. Usually turbo failure but could also be worn rings. Check the preather return isn't blocked as they were common for blocking (the one in th base of the block).

I don't think it's the turbo as it's relatively new judging by the receipts for the car plus there are none of the usually signs of turbo failure. The oil seems like it's being blown through the separator tank and through the air-flow meter all the way round to the intake manifold. I'll check all the breather pipes and get them cleaned whilst I'm at it.

Still doesn't explain the go - no go problem I've had since owning it though, but maybe this small strip down will reveal a few things.

I'd never thought I'd say it, but I'm getting to the end of my tether with my S1. A few friends have bought Beemers of late and I'm very much impressed. Build quality is good and they just feel so much nicer to drive. They just make my S1 feel do antiquated and primitive. I just wish Beemers looked as nice as my S1 then I'd be laughin'.

I know the feeling.

I bet your mates BMW aren't 20 years old though are they?

The go, no go will probably be a running issue rather than a mechanical issue.
