buy it anyway mate,is well cheap at 550 ,even if its rotten you will get your cash back breaking it.
or re shell it if you really want one,bit of work but well worth it,escort rs's just seem to have so much respect with everyone well apart from mk6's lol

Thats the best way ive ever heard RS's described yet

Mate for 550 its a cheap RS, if you have the dough to play with then check your insurance first as you dont want to end up paying a grand for insurance on a car worth half that.

I paid waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more than that but ive always wanted an S1 since a was a wee boy and now i have one i love it

plus for that cash you can then mess about with it a wee bit and start to learn all about it and so long as you get some use of it the knowlege you can gain will probably pay you back your 550 at some point if you stick with RS's.

Just make sure it aint rotten everything else can be sorted

have had loads of rs's and a couple of town bikes in my time (not fair really on the girls but they did love the c$$k))
the reaction was similar,i said"got an rs turbo"they said what does it go like"i said "pretty good throws you about all over the place wen it comes on boost(lol)they say "lucky bastard always wanted one they look sweet as,never had one, just wanted to know what it went like,"
and then the conversation was pretty much the same about my bird

thats just the problem mate, they do look nice for 550-3k so peeps part with their cash,a small bubble above the kit is a load of rot underneath the kit, then throw cash at trying to fix a basket case.
i bought my rs for 350 quid but knew it was a shitter needing a reshell, its still cost me the best part of 3k and i've not driven it yet(because i've done it reasonably well),and i know escorts inside out and do all jobs myself and get paintwork at mates rates, imagine what happens to a newbie 9 times out of ten they will get stuck with a moneypit
buying an escort rst is a minefield and there are more bombs out there than decent cars, and very few good cars for less than 3 k and a lot of site at more than 3k if you dig deep

You aint wrong there mate alot of people buy them because they LOOK NICE & SHINY one of my mate's payed £1750 for an rs because it LOOKED!! ok then when he brought it round i had a look at it and said do you want the bad news or the even worse news he said what's wrong with it then so then i started to show him the rot and beleave me it was EVERYWHERE but i give him this it was nice and shiny i look at it as anything under £2500-£3000 is going to need a bit of work, anything under £2000 is going to be an ongoing project ,anything under £1500 is a fulltime project and anything under £1000 is just for part's

he told me it was an rsoc car it was mint, had a look at it it was fookin rotten, sill to floor which is hidden by carpets, rear wheelhouses which is hidden by kit or car being so low you cant feel the rotten metal up there, hey but it had loads of history and a detailed engine bay
he paid 600 quid for welding and sold the car for 2200 quid, lost 2300 in 6 months at least

have you been underneath the car?lift the carpets and have a look at the floor, lift the boot carpet and have a look to the right and left next to the wheelhouses, lift out the spare wheel and look at recess, stick your hand up behind the rear wheel and grab the arch just behind the kit and work your way around,it will crack or move i guarantee it,at the sides behind the wheel and below the rear bumper have a good poke about it will be soft,in front of the rear wheel behind the kit and also round the back next to the rear tie bar mounting.
to the front, crossmember, bumper mounting holes, bottom of the door pillars, behind the arch liners especially along the bottom edge, where the track control arms mount to the chassis, beind the front wheels on the floor, battery tray area, fuse box area.
underneath, chassis legs at rear are prone to real rot especially near to back panel and swinging arm mounting points
roof next to sunroof and tailgate mountings
tailgate around the window
you will find rot or you are taking the piss,or you are buying a car off a total fuckwit
what miles on the car?
