Default How did it feel for you?

Hi peeps,

Not gonna bore you with my life story.

Brother owns 3dr RS 9 yrs and going on strong. I convinced my wife after 7 yrs and divorce (LOL) to buy one........as of last Sunday I am a proud owner of a 2 wd saff.

Boy do I feel like a teen again. Being 700 miles away and not being able to see, hear or touch her for another 2 weeks is killing me.

Trouble is now I wanna keep her standard like Ford intended her to be. This will prove difficult thou.

So, How did it feel for you, your first time owning a Cosworth?

Al

in a word - whiplash

10 minutes after buying it, i had a meeting with an oak tree due to a broken rear damper chucking me sideways off the autobahn

hope a similar thing doesn't happen to you and that you enjoy it to the max

holly fuck mate thats a nasty accedent, glad it was only whiplash

As for me , i thought i was the bee`s nee`s, first time i`d drove my own rear wheel drive car, tried a few wheel spins here and there to get a feel for it, then i`ve been steering from the rear since, only had it a year and a half and had some scary moments in it, still the best thing i`ve ever bought

lol buying a cossie in winter is dangerous....bought mine December 21st 2001...and in the first wk end I got completly snowed in at my mates out in the sticks, had to drive back on original and very much hardened D40's Apart from that, it was a complete let down initialy...had a few teething problems mainly thru to her being parked up for 6 yr doing nowt, that and it being a hell of alot slower than my zvh escort of the time sort of took the iceing off the cake. Got attached to the old gert now tho

Hi,
Had my 2WD saff for six and a half years now, had loads of other performance cars including a 5.0 litre Mustang which was a great car and was good practise for going sideways in, but none have really captured the spirit as well as the cosworth. That goes properly sideways. I can still remember the day I got it and how quickly it wanted to swap ends! I soon found what you could and couldnt get away with and started driving it accordingly

Cant really see me ever getting rid of the Cossie, being a mechanic on a wide range of cars and getting to drive them I find a lot of newer performance cars lack soul and character, they are however very quick and capable theres no doubt about that.

I have spent a lot of time and money modifying and looking after the Cossie and keeping on top of the maintenance is essential. I have had one brake down in all that time due to a faulty crank sensor! I still get a buzz from driving my old warhorse all these years on, long may it continue.

CheeRS, Mike.

The way forward is sideways

I drove mine about half a mile when I first brought it as I had no insurance cover my dad had to drive it home. It sat on the drive for 3/4 months as the insurance company wanted Ł4000 to car the car on my policy as it was due to expire in Januaray

Got it insured on the 26th Jan and I have not used it for a full year in the past 4 years as I keep taking it off the road to sort bits of it out (I paid my insurance in Jan this year and never drive it until Sept 7th.

It may be expensive but theres no way I'm going to sell it as I love it too much.

Hmmmm,

Not to tricky to drive A. Only be driving her once in a blue moon as to keep miles down. Unfourtunatley she never did come with FFSH .

Nevermind thou. Gonna keep her standard. Just need to look for an origanal xuast.

At least now I know to tread even more carefully when on the road.

I remember the drive home well even after 8yrs of ownership !!!..

I was soo excited, I got all trembly ..lol..

The sierra I had was a 1.8 Diesel !....... so this was to be a bit scary
in comparison

I drove home with the biggest smile on my face, but very cautiously..

I put my foot to the floor and jumped straight back off as I hit a ton
In no time all at all...

Once I got home picked up the g/f from work, filled the tank up and drove it
All weekend, went every where in it for the next three years, used it for
work everyday, went to Scotland, cornwall etc...

She was standard then, with a measily 220BHP. Reliable as any car.

But the tuning bug set it, and oh dear ...

The rest they say is History
