IIRC my Shuffle came with a CD with the drivers on, I downloaded ITunes and ran the CD Rom, plugged the shuffle into the USB and job done.

Are you sure the CD has installed correctly?

If you've got iTunes installed OK, then try the following link to rest the unit and put it into disk mode, then you can run the ipod updater and restore the unit to factory default, this may help.

http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/five_rs/

Select your OS and device and then follow the instructions. I've just had to do this with my 3rd Gen and managed to get it working again.

Note, if you have iTunes 7, you use this for updating rather than the separate iPod updater utility.

Cheers

Matt

PS, next time buy a Nano you tight fecker
