Well, let's just try it this way:

1000 kg/132 hp = 7,57 kg/hp
now 100 kg less:

900 kg/ 132 hp = 6,81 kg/hp
Now we can work out how much hp we need to achieve the same kg/hp with a car that weighs 1000 kg.

1000 kg / x hp = 6,81 kg/hp
x = 147 hp
So in that case saving 100 kg is about the same as having additional 15 hp.

A Nova GSI should weigh around 870 kg's.

The recent Subaru WRX (6-speed-gearbox) weighs 1495 kg, however you'll have to take away at least 75 kg's from that. There has been a EU law since the middle of the nineties which requires that they include the weight of the driver and some petrol in the tank in those figures.

What is the Astra MkII? We have different names for them here. Is it the one from the eighties aka Kadett E?

Ah OK. Between 965 and 985 for GSI 8V's, between 1040 and 1060 for 16V's
