The Car is amazing and I was just wondering (as I don't know how it works) if you had a longer proving ground would you achieve an even higher top speed? Or is the aim to achieve a fast as possible speed in a specified distance?
I only ask as I was reading Autoexpress on the shitter today and they have a feature on different cars (dedicated top speeders and modified road cars) doing top speed times at the Bonneville Salt Flats, Utah.
Just interested

Rods car is still accelerating hard, he would be comfortabley 220+ if he changed the gearing slightly and ran it for a few miles.
He has no interest in that, brunters and the other UK locations is fine, its the same choices for everyone so its a fair fight.

I would have got banged up for the speeds I did that day Renton rang up about an hour and a half after I had left to apologise and see how I was getting on and just could not believe it when I was home!
The Skyline still had a KMH speedo at the time and it doesn't seem as fast when you don't know instantly how fast you are going

The M6 Tollroad is my fav. I had over 170 on the clock in the R33 with my mum and dad on board coming back from Renton and Sonas wedding in Scotland. My Mum was alseep and my dad was a bit clueless bless him

almost as good as when i done shoot in brighton, finished at 1.20am
bit of gaffer tape over the rear number plate and i was home 1 hour 30 mins later
not bad for a 150 mile trip

The fact is we dont know how fast my car will go given enough distance over 220 thats for sure but its not viable in the UK. We reached 210mph in 1.41 miles still acclerating. All my data tells me what Power is required for My Speed over 1.5miles.
The longer you gear the more distance you require to get to Max Speed.
We reached our 210, on the Limiter, about 300metres short of the timing beam & coasted over at the present record of 206.1 thats called an error on my part for gearing too short. With our new Spec we are geared to do 219 @ 8.3k which is the limiter, however the Nitrous is switch off at 8.2k so 217 is the Max on present gearing. However we aint got enough Power to pull that in 1.5miles (unless im wrong again) as that requires over 900bhp Peak Power, which is difficult to have after 30 secs or so at Full Throttle.
Rod
ps If I had a 6th gear @ 193mph , I could gear so much nearer optimum & then 217mph may be possible in 1.5miles. Remember Im on falling Power after 7.5k & if I Lengthen the gearing for this I cant reach the Max Speed in 1.5 miles, Its a bugger but I love the maths of it. Maybe I could have Martins gearbow for the day.
it shouldn't be difficult to roughly work out how fast your car could go in theory rod if you know the power spread from a dyno session
we know that a 204 bhp std one will go 150mph (book figure, but the exact figure should be known) so you can work out the drag from that. you can also use other examples of sapphs doing top speed runs with known power amounts (like mike r?) to get an idea of the drag. then just multiply it up for your power figure
i thought you were an aero engineer

Ok Rod lets get this 20? mph run over and done with, and turn your car into a DRIFT machine
mmmmmmm 120mph sideways smoke billowing from the arches .....................ohh yeah I know sounds like a mapping session with Mark

porkie how much fuel did you use on the m6 toll that day
when we come back from msd we was doing the m6 in a fairly nice pace and we had to stop for fuel as we hit 1/4 tank just before the m1
i know that 6 cylinders love to drink fuel too
