Right I only have £4000 to spend
I know where there is a good saff for sale a friend of mine is seling with a rebuilt engine etc etc for just shy of £4000
But im also temped with an Evo 3 also around the same price (a friend imports them so I should get it for £3500
What would you do remembering that its winter and I want to use it on a regular basis although not every day
oh I have 2 kids so I need a 4 door car...
or can anyone suggest anything else I should be concidering?

4dr japs that i can think off scooby, evo, skyline, integra, but its down to you. id go and test drive the ones you like bud and see what you think personally id go for a jap car but thats my choice.
Before you read i'm not meaning to upset anyone on here:
I'm 24 and dont have any kids yet - but when i do i personally wouldn't want a serious car like either of them for my every day car. Performance cars are for yourself (i think) - but they are unreliable.
As for a weekend car, then great - but when i have kids they would be my first thought and i'd have a run around to make sure that they are safe and will get there everytime.
What do you guys think??

Paul1982, I agree to a certain point. I've owned a Cosworth and now I've just bought an Impreza 03 STI. I wanted a four door car with grunt. I plan on keeping it for a while as we plan on having kids next year so we need something for them. It was the most practical while still having fun.
My old man always did the same, hence my love for fast cars. Having kids doesn't mean the end of performance motoring.
Gimme 6 months and I'll tell you which is better, Cossie or Jap
Cheers
Matt

For a different perspective, if I hadnt already put sooo much money into the cossie, and I was starting again, t be honest, I would have bought an E36 M3 Evo, only because I could then strip it, cage it and take it racing!!!!!
Lots of car for your money, and really hard to keep up with round twisties of the nurburgring when set up properly!

iv had a rs for 10 years and a evo 3 for a few months, to me its just pot luck weather you get a good car for your money, iv had problems with both , what i normaly say is just drive a evo then make up your mind
you wont be disapointed.. on another note i can give you alot of tips on buying evo,s
firstley.. CRANKWALK.. big trouble due to oil not geting to the main bearings.. the crank moves this causes trouble with other parts .. only way to cure is evo 6 crank with updated shells ..mainly evo 1,2,3
idle control valve.. most evo,s seem to suffer bad tick over due to this part.. over 400 quid from mitsu or 100 quid from camskill
YAW control on evo,s from 4 onwords break down costing big money
also if you buy 1 , 2, 3, you can struggle to get anyone to set it up most only set up from 4 onwards.. fook nows why
and stu cant set them up as he cant read the jap sensers..
also pistons or not forged but crank and rods or so if you want big bhp you will need to change to forged..cosworth make pistons for them
still want one ? other than that ther just awsome mad power machines doin the 0. 60 in 4.9
my advice wud be take some one who nows about evo,s and only buy from 4 upwards

I Had the pleasure of driving my friends evo 3 last night. Easy to drive round town, great on b roads and Exceptional power on the motorway.
Also evo 3's are newer then saff cossies aren't they?
Choose evo
