when i remove the oil filler cap on my escort rst the revs drop and the engine cuts out, what causes it sum people say its a blocked breather others say the rings r worn.

 

its normal, dont worry they all do it.

 

mine dont is that good or bad what causes it

 

Just creates an airleak, on a cvh the only time you should be worried is if it doesn't try and stall

 

now im worried as mine does not even drop in revs when i take my oil cap off

have you got aftermarket oil breather eg bailey ? only the original oil breather does this because it vents the oil vapour to the airbox and when you take the oil cap off it lets air in

 

hes still got the factory breather set up mate

 

yes mate still got the factory one

 

If it doesn't cut out:

It either has worn rings/bores creating a lot of blow-by, meaning that air is not leaked in from the cap, but rather exhaust is leaked out.

Or it just runs really rich, so when it goes leaner because of the leak, its just spot on.
