ok just put my turbo back on and now the car wont start (escort rs turbo) It did start the first time i tried it, but it dies after a minute. Now it turns over but wont start. Their is a spark and the fuel pump is working. I took one of the plugs out and it was dry after a few failed starts. Does this mean there is no fuel getting to the engine? The fuel distributor is clicking when i turn the ignition on.
Please help i need to get the car sorted for work tomorrow!

I just had a look over it and i cant see anything not connected up. I also checked/tightened all the boost hoses too.
I am beginning to hate this car!

ahh i'm gonna take all the hoses off and put them on again
i am i right in thinking that even the smallest hole will cause problems? Also is there anywhere other than the hoses an air leak could happen? intercooler obviously, but anywhere else?

are you sure your fuel pump is working ? I had a problem like this where the fuel pump would prime when I turned the ignition on but when you cranked the car it would stop working. Try putting a new pump relay in or crank the car and get someone to loosen one of the injector pipes on the metering head, you'll definately know if your getting fuel that way.

the pump is deffo working, it primes ok and you can hear it running when cranking. i took one of the fuel pipes off the metering head and when i cranked it nothing came out, there is pressure because i got some petrol in the face when i took off the union from the fuel filter to the metering head!
So is the problem with the metering head?

The problem you are having is that the metering flap is not being displaced by the airflow going into the engine.
Have someone depress the metering flap slightly (Less than 1mm) whilst you crank her with WOT and see if she fires... If she does you are either leaking air into the engine or the base settings are no longer suitable for your engine and she needs setting up to make her run.

I think when the pump primes, thats what creates the pressure. Could be the metering head itself
could also be the fuel ecu or the electro magnetic pressure actuator I suppose, best to get a Bosch specialist look at it I think
