Estate Agents are some of the biggest fucking parasite arseholes on the face of the earth. Finance brokers are EXACTLY the same. Both rip you off and you never know it. The most greedy bunch of wankers that have ever drawn breath.

Thieving wankers the pair of them.

All estate agents do is liase between the sellers agent and a bit between solicitors. That's it. Do a Land Reg if you're unsure of who owns the house and deal direct. Just make sure they're not under contract to an estate agent as otherwise their 'commission' (for doing FUCK ALL) is due. Then deal direct. I did all the chasingy when I bought my place, estate agents are a waste of fucking space.

Tell your g/f. After all it isnt your fault it was taken off the market so she cant get annoyed at you. hold on though.. when did something not being your fault stop women from having a go

goto the house for sale ,and just say you were passing and decided to stop. More than likley if they are free they will show you round the property etc, then tell them you wil lmake them an offer directly to their laywers and cut out the estate agency fee and it will save them money / they will have more money in their pockets

sometimes works , sometimes people dont like nowt to do with it.

Mate, people use Estate Agents as it's the 'done thing' Doesn't mean it's the right or the cheapest thing. Trust me, they do FUCK ALL. They make a few phone calls, chase solicitors and that's about it and YOU do EXACTLY the same anyway. SO why pay them a commission for something you're doing yourself ? All they do is advertise the house. Once you're interested and the seller is up for it, fuck them out the door. Just check your contyract first and make sure you're not still obligated by it.

Usually 1.5 or 2% of the purchase price is their fee..............work that out of Ł100k and YOU pay that (as the seller). The buyer pays nothing.

Halfway towards a new bathroom suite that....................

Paul Ripley on here is an estate agent

And if you walk by a house with a sale board outside of it, the seller is legally obliged to pay the agent their commision if it can be proved that their sale board "introduced" the buyer to the property.

also, i wouldnt say all estate agents are wankers, i should know, i spend all day talking to them

That´s exactly what I was gonna ask! lol Like thats the Estate Agents fault!? And I more than anyone should hate Estate Agents after the last one who tried to sell my house plagued me with nuisence calls & perverted texts on my mobile

Ps: Ive sold a house through an Estate Agent, and sold one direct, not really much difference depending on which Agent you use apart from the fee, all comes down to whether your Solicitor is any good or not.

maybe not, but what most people on this post seem to be doing is stereo typing EVERY estate agent.

such as parasitic arseholes, thieving wankers etc... you used the term ALL, seems clear cut to me

As a profession I stand by what I said - they are greedy bastards. No qualms in that ! As individuals I can't and won't comment - each person is a person and should be judged as such. As I said I don't know Mr Ripley or Mr / Mrs A N Other so who am I to judge them as people ?

Whats that gotta do with estate agents tho? Surely that has to do with the owners of the property deciding not to sell - which is thier perogative anyway Bit like you putting your car up for sale in Autotrader, then changing your mind about selling it. It's not Autotraders fault that you decided not to sell is it?

you should've said estate agencies, not estate agents, as the agent is the person, the agency is the job

I have worked for the same estate agencies for the last 7 and a half years. I am pleased I am not one of the few 'parasitic arsehole' that you do occacionaly find in some companies. The estate agents I work for is an independant family run buisness so it is more important to keep our reputation and also earn a living at the same time.

If a seller decides to take their house of the market then that is their choice. Nothing we can do about it. We are here to advertise and to sell a property and help to see the sale through until the exchange and completion. Our company charges .5% which is a good rate and I have never had complaints and only thanks with people I have dealt with.

Unfortunalty we get our reputation taken down with the few bad estate agents that are around and bad solicitors.

I dont mind what people say, you get used to it, but as long as i know i work hard and really enjoy my job and earn my living and not one of the dodgy ones then I have a clear conscious.

Don't worry people I don't take it personally

My Estate Agency is also Family owned (me my Dad and Mum) We are a independent agency it is a very difficult business because people hate you before they even know you Which I do understand because there certainly are some arse hole Estate Agents out there My family pride ourselves on not being like the 'typical Estate agency as portrayed by the media etc' and remember I have to live and work in an area where my family name is well known so Its not a good idea to go around upsetting people

Zoe .5%

the small independents i have dealt with have been spot on, the bigger chains are a nightmare.

had one bloke in from a chain to value and he said 'i dont like it, its too modern' well chum, it sold the the first person THE OTHER estate agent introduced, for the full asking.
