I'm trying to buy a house at the moment and its a f'kin nightmare. Its not actually the estate agents fault, just the nob jockey who lives there and my shite solicitor

If it falls through my bird will go mental and I don't need the ear ache!

Default estate agents

Let me tell you something about estate agents, they are all a complete bunch of tossers and seem to earn a fair old wage from doing fuck all, remember the more money they get from a sale of a house the more money goes in their sky rockets as they are paid a percentage of the total figure, when i was looking to by my 1st house i found one i really wanted and got involved in some kind of bidding war which in the end i lost, i told the estate agent he was running a dirty business and fucked him off and went elsewhere, remember buying/moving is a stressful procedure along with marriage, divorce and bereavement

I'm suprised to see so much stereotyping of Estate Agents.

The fact is bad Estate Agents are in abundance because, despite the fact a home is the most expensive thing most of us buy, most people don't know what they are doing and get taken for a ride.

my soliciter was sound
the estate agent was a total and utter cunt
and his little bitch who kept calling me and leaving the same message time and time again "you need to call me asap as you aren't going to get the house if you don't"
and the seller was another total butt nugget who said "well, now i come to think about it, i don't want to sell the house"

the board went up one thursday morning in august (i think it was the first week)
that afternoon i was round the estate agents asking how much and said "i'll take it"
sorted everyting out by the next teusday
when we eventually moved in it was the 15th of december

and they used every excuse i could have ever thought of, starting off by saying my soliciter was fucking things up and th eother soliciter, if he'd known who i was using, would never have done the deal, to telling me someone else had boguht it
i told them that due to my work commitments, my phone is not always switched on o they would have to get hold of someone else to relay the message onto me later on that evening, but i'd still get 15 messges a day teling me everything from the world is going to explode to causing the plauge if i didn't sign right there and then
i was SO fucked off i went in there and told them that, if i wasn't in that house by close of play that week i would not bother to buy it

that worked

the main problem was their soliciter, who didn't give a fuck about anything, but if they hadn't been pestering me for so long and told me a whole pack of lies, i'd have been much better for it

it don't matter how many good estate agents you find, you will always hear the horror storys about the bad ones, which is why, as a general rule, i would file the majority of estate agents under "C"

Most people I meet always say they would love to work in an estate agents. Makes me laugh if I go out in the evening and get chatting to someone and they ask what I do as a job, once they know they ask a million and one questions and want advise and say how they would love to do my job and see all the different houses , guess people only like us when suits.

Anyone want a valuation

What does everyone else do as a job then

I disagree.

The fact there's so many bad ones is because it's traditionally a job anyone with a pulse can get.

As with any job, the ones that are any good soon get promoted so the average joes like us won't be dealing with them anyway or they go and work for themselves.

My senior negotiator left her previous estate agency (a big corporate around my way) for the exact same reasons
Well its to my advantage now as she is a great people person and i'm very happy with her attitude towards our customers and she is for ever getting flowers, bottle of wine and thank you cards

Paul,

Not sure if it was a big firm or a family run business she was working for, all i know it was in Epsom.

She did not have very good things to say about the place

Good for you that your member of staff turned out that way Good staff as i found from my supervisor experience are hard to come by.

ah There was nothing wrong working at woolworths, did me no harm, gave me confidence(got free pick and mix) and earned good money and was a good laugh at the same time. My mum started off in Woolworths when she was a teenager and now is the manager of an estate agents , I had to show my family this post as it has been quite interesting and seeing as my mum works in the trade too.

Train driver....cool
