Default E39 BMW 530d Sport.........anyone any gen?

Anyone got the lowdown on the E39 530d Sport?

Looking into a new motor next year, and these babies are coming down in price, and look the absolute tickley bits

view:

This one is only 10k with a full bmw history and 1 owner from new. The interior is EXACTLY how I would like mine too

But what gives it the crunch is the fact that it'll be quicker than my E30 cossie with a bit of a re-map, return millions miles more to the gallon, and its super comfortable - all that cowhide and comfort

But I need to know the problems, the economy, the nice top speed figure (altho I have a feeling that this is 155mph limited) and anything else

My mate is a trader and we took one he has in stock to TOTB this year. Absolutey fantastic cars. Great to drive, very quick for a diesel, quiet, smooth, and they handle well too!

Cannot recommend then enough and they will run to at least 150k miles with no problems.

Buy it!!!!!

I think i'd be more tempted by E320 cdi Merc myself tbh, never been in a 530d but the E320 really is a nice car, i've never really been a fan of Mercs but the E320 just ticks all the right boxes, and its not so quite in your face as the beemer.

E320cdi- 204bhp/500nm

Mercs are old man cars!

Like I tell everyone about BMWs - they are fine till you need somthing from the dealership that you cant do at home (codeing/programming)!

E39s are possibly the best cars ever made!

Things that go wrong with the 530d are the swirl flaps fall out the manifold and can damage the engine and injector troubles. I wouldn't buy one with super high miles.

193bhp as standard.

5 series is generally a good car.
make sure the aircon works....compressors are a bastard to get hold of, and not cheap.

check the rear axle and make sure the rear bushes are ok, its got a twin track control arm setup and the bits are a c#nt to change and not too cheap, oh and make sure the axle bushes are ok

other than that, service history etc.

im a parts man to trade and these are the main problems with em

airbag light will probably glow all the time.related to bad connectors on the seatbelt tension system .

rust on/in the boot lid.

got a 525tds e39 and its a lovely car to drive and own.

get the 193 hp engine.its much better than the previous 184hp engine
