Anyone run a S1 gearbox in a S2???
Anyone run a S1 gearbox in a S2??? With the standard S2 front anti-roll bar set-up??
I do and the anti-roll bar clashes with the gearbox casing [the end removable bolt on casing]. When the suspension compresses it hits the casing [enough to bend the casing].
Any else noticed this? Or is it just mine??

Yer I ran a S1 gearbox with the S2 anti roll bar, I never had a problem. I managed to bolt the gearbox onto the cradle by adding the studs from the correct side a few spacers and I was away.

What type of front suspension set up are you running, on a S2 the front anti roll bar is required to hold the front set up in line with the front of the car. Do you have a modified S1 adjustable set up installed?[/quote]

HEs obviously running the S1 or RS1600i crossmember and tie arms without the rollbar, there is no other way.
As for the gearbox fouling i have no idea whats making contact

sorry. when i baught the box in question the guy assured me it was from a series one. it had the square front mounting point on the front too. maybe it was from an xr3
ripped. it didnt have a bar across when you looked into the hole for the driveshafts. is it true that this is a way to tell?
it also dropped massive burnouts everywhere

no bar through the hole = LSD
interesting fact - The LSDs in Series 1 Boxes are rebuildable unlike the ones in Series 2 boxes. Thats according to Bernie at CTS

The S1 LSD are "better" also because they have the more common six bolt pattern, so the LSD can always be put to whatever other box to make it an "RST-box".
John:
Did you really check that your left and rear on the antiroll-bar are the correct way around? This happens soooo often when people don't realize they are different. The left side takes a different route to better clear the gearbox.
