Default some questions, want to buy a mk2 escort with cossie engine

hi lads & lasses, i want to buy a mark 2 escort shortly with a cossie conversion.
wat i need to know is are there any of these cars with cossie engines on the market or r they like hen's teeth?
if there are how much approx would one be worth. id like the bodywork to be in good condition.

sorry for the newbie type questions but i am serious about getting one. my neighbour has a mint 1600 that i might buy and do the conversion myself but i would rather buy one already built because conversions r very costly.
i built an m3 evo engine & gearbox into my 328i bmw & have spent alot of time effort and money on it so i dont want to go thru that again.

thanks

seamus

Its not as easy to do the conversion as people think , and you need a superb shell to start with ( thats the hard part )
Easier to buy one done , but expect to pay 10k plus for a good car

i was expecting around this sort of money. my mechanic has a capri with a cossie engine in it. goes real well but i prefer a mk 2 rather than a capri

there are quite a lot of the escort mk.2's getting cosworth engines fitted now.

seem to be a popular conversion for the escorts now.

mine will be another one too.

be a while yet though, but got a good car and a cosworth engine there too, just got to finish building the garage to start the work on it.

have a look on Turbosport forum, plenty of old school cars on there and lots of advise on doing this conversion.

good luck on your one.

Hang out on www.turbosport.co.uk

This seems to be the forum that most of the Cossie Powered Escort boys use.

Also keep an eye on out www.oldskoolford.co.uk too as there are some guys on there.

They crop on e-bay pretty regular too.

As Paul says... with any old Ford start with the best shell you can get.

They were never designed to stand the torque that a cossie motor can generate so when you look at a car check to see if any additional prep has been done on the shell.

Seam welding, gussetting, cage etc
