Top Italian football teams Juventus, Lazio and Fiorentina have been relegated to Serie B after a match-fixing scandal.

AC Milan will remain in Serie A but was given a 15-point penalty from the start of next season.

The Italian Football Federation punished them for conspiring to rig matches in the top division during the 2004/05 season.

Serie A champions Juventus were also deducted 30 points from start of next season and stripped of their last two Serie A titles.

Fiorentina was deducted 12 points and Lazio lost seven.

All four teams have been barred from European tournaments for next season.

been a juve for many years and my heart sunk tonight.

it will be good for the clubs in the long run as the fans need to know they win fairly...

feel sorry for all the players involved as they were part of a system they had no control over.

moggi has a lot to answer for the wanker!

Depends how loyal their fans are, but being banned from European cup games will cost them a lot in revenue.

The report on BBC Sports says....
Thirteen of Italy's World Cup-winning squad play for the clubs involved, with five at Juventus, who also number Patrick Vieira, Lilian Thuram, David Trezeguet, Pavel Nedved and Zlatan Ibrahimovic in their ranks.

Many of them are expected to seek transfers to other leading clubs in Italy or Europe to limit the damage to their careers.

trez and viera to lyon

cannavaro, emerson,zambrotta to real

buffon to london

some of the older players will stay though....

the reason they cheated was due to the mafia like boss they had who was getting to power
ull, locking refs in the dressing rooms abd driving off with the keys!

there are a lot of good refs who have been dragged into this and they probb won't ref again, shame really.

colina is now head of the ref association, can't see him being bullied...lol
