Far overpaid for what they do when you consider jobs like doctors and surgeons who are saving peoples lives on a daily basis will only get paid a fraction of that.

docrots and nurses only seem to have 3 or 4 fans
these people play in front of packed out stadiums around the world
it would be better if they were paid for teh amount of minutes they were on the pitch though, that would make peole want to play more rather than sit on the sidelines pretending they's stubbed their toe

Blimey!! I heard Footballers were well paid but obviously not judging by that list, seems very reasonable for kicking a ball about a grass field remember these guys have a god given ability to go down like they have been hit by a sledge hammer when an opponent gets within 10 yards of them. Worth every penny.

He got good wages because we held leeds to ransom with his transfer fee, leeds were in dire straights and liverpool took advantage, think we paid about £3.5 million for him, which at the time, was about a quater of what his value was, unfortunatly, since he came to liverpool, he's proved to be worth about 3.5 pence

i'd say quite a few are wrong tbh.
Sol Campbell would not be getting paid that much at Pompey, no chance!
Torres also took a pay cut to join LFC ( wages in Spain are higher due to tax reasons i believe?)
Shevchenko must be laughing all the way to the bank...literally!!
as you say though, there are some stinkers on that list, but most do actually earn that money back in either Performances or shirt sales etc.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
To be a doctor you don't have to play and practice since you're a young child or maybe have some natural ability. Even then some footballers don't make it. Rooney was already scoring goals at 16/17/ against teams whilst those doctors were not even on the chosen course. Ronaldinho would have been sharpening his front teeth on the curbs american history x style whilst waiting for the other kids to get ready for a barefoot game on the street.
You pay for the talent and demand of it. I don't hear people saying film or rock stars are overpaid. If thousand of people pay ££ for tickets and tv subscriptions then the players should get it. How much do average private operations cost/earn in comparison?

Premiership wages are massively out of sync' with the rest of the country's workforce................................
But...
Surely though, with today's huge ammount of cash coming into all the Prem' clubs, through T.V/Sponsers/Merchandise etc. Due to the high quality/class of player/depth of competition and standard of football.
Who else deserves the rewards/cash, more than the the actual players out on the park???

who cares about anything else and what people deserve, generally in life you dont get what you deserve anyway.
IMO the top players get that much money because they bring a lot of success to their clubs, bring a lot joy to their fans, and a lot of them give back as well.
i do have a problem with the shit ones earning decent money though, i mean how the fuck did darren bent end up with a wage like that
if someone gave you a shit load of money for doing a job you love you wouldnt say no would you, or would you?
not sure about the list though

also would like to see a list after c.ronaldo sorts his contract extension with manu , as real are putting the pressure on and his wages will smash the NO 1 spot.

You totally missed the point. Never said they worked hard i just stated that they get rewarded for their life long dedication to it since children. Teachers, doctors, firemen, armed forces don't have to spend all their lifes on it.
Its the same for a Snooker player, guitarist or racing driver like Lewis Hamilton. If it was simple to be that good then every fucker would be but they aren't and that why they get rewards. How physically hard or 'draining' it may be compared to other every day jobs means fuck all.
Got no idea how old you are, 10 or 60 but i tell you what, you go and be a premiership footballer then and earn that money. Go on i will give you 20 years to do it. Let me know when you do. (never). That is why they get paid that much. It's the whole picture not just what they do on the Saturday.
