If you're a United fan, then don't read this as the omens for the Barca second leg are not good.....
United supporters still depressed after Saturday's 2-1 defeat at Chelsea should look away now, for IAN LADYMAN has been browsing through the record books and the omens for tonight are not good...
Surely the big night at Old Trafford will see them through?
Don't bet on it — Manchester United have never reached a European Cup Final via a second leg at Old Trafford.
They failed in 1957, 1966, 1969 and 1997. In 1968 and 1999 they relied on away wins at Real Madrid and Juventus.
But 0-0 away from home in the first leg was not a bad result, was it?
Overall, 70 per cent of European teams who have secured 0-0 draws in first leg knockout ties away from home have qualified for the next stage.
United's success rate is 25 per cent, having failed to progress in three out of four ties:
Volgograd (1995-96)
Monaco (1997-98)
Real Madrid in (1999-2000)
They did beat Panathinaikos in the 1991-92 European Cup-winners' Cup first round.
OK, let's broaden it. What about Fergie's United record if they fail to score in any European away leg?
It gets worse... they are almost invariably knocked out.
Just look at this list:
1993-94: 0-0 at Galatasaray; out on away goals.
1996-97: 0-1 at Dortmund; then 0-1 at home; out 0-2 agg.
1997-98: 0-0 at Monaco; then 1-1 at home; out on away goals.
1999-2000: 0-0 at Real; then 2-3 at home; out 2-3 agg.
2000-01: 0-1 at Bayern; then 1-2 at home; out 1-3 agg.
2006-07: 0-3 at Milan; out 3-5 agg.
The sole exception? A 0-0 draw in Porto in 1997 after winning the first leg 4-0.

You are bound to write this nonsense cos you think it will upset a few people on here, but surely you dont believe it you are more intelligent than that. 90 minutes of football will decide who goes through not whats happened in the past. As a Liverpool supporter perhaps you should be thinking about that game.
United are closer to a Champions League, Premiership double than your own team if they fail it will still have been a good season for this young side.
Personally I think this young side may have 'bottled' it & will do well to recover, but its all chracter building stuff & I hope they can win one of the two, maybe the Premiership.
I wish Liverpool well in their semi.

I'm sure most man u fans like to see liverpool lose, same as when the roles are reversed.
I wouldn't mind a man u/liverpool final, as I said earlier in the post it would make a fantastic final, but I'll still PMSL if barca win tonight

The amount Liverpool fans BEGGING and PRAYING for United to lose is just ludicrous.
Redkop even has a Barca badge for an avatar and has had for a few days now?
What a total arse!!!
Instead of concentrating on your own team it seems to me you are willing opposition to lose more than your own team to win!?!?!?!

It cracks me up to see how predictable and touchy the mancs always are, with insults and name calling whenever I start a thread about them. You all take the bait so easy.... it's hilarious.

It's all too facile.....

PS When I started supporting Liverpool, ManU weren't even in the same division.... so were hardly rivals

Think all these Liverpool fans need to get a grip, when united go through tonight they are easily capable of beating Liverpool or Chelsea in the final!
How can you talk about Ronaldo diving, when Torres should be on the Olympic diving team hes that good!!

You are such a jelous bitter cow when it comes to football ![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Its always someone else's fault, the player dived, the ref got it wrong, torres is bullied, rafa needs to go beause they lost, but actually hes alright now!, owen is shite, etc etc etc... you talk some amount of gash!![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Utd will beat barca tonight, then beat chelsea in the final imho. Can't see liverpool being good enough to beat chelsea at the bridge, if they do, they are definately not able to match utd come the final (as proved all season...), or Barcelona if the unthinkable happens tonight!
