Depends on size of turbo, but in theory (if T4 sized) perfectly possible.

hmmm, so is the standard cooler and injectors up to the job of allowing that kind of power?

and why put a t4 sized turbo on a scooby? it'd ruin it surely?

And no, standard intercooler can barely cope with standard power.

Better tell Andy Forrest to stop running 9sec quarters and 210mph, his GT35 is ruining his car.

My best mate has an RB5, he's spent some dosh on it, by way of an intercooler, a TD05/06, a GEMS ecu and Equal length headers. Bigger injectors balh blah blah, he makes 376 bhp at 1.3 Bar.

steve,

but he's built the car to suit the turbo.

still a T4 sized turbo on an otherwise standard engine would be a bit silly surely?!

As has been said, unless you can say what model Impreza it is, then it is difficult to argue a case for or against.

If it is a UK standard WRX, then highly unlikely. If it is an STi with the bigger injectors / intercoolers that this uses, then it is feasible.

Turbos should be specced for the power you want the car to be and the boost its safe for you to run, anything extra will just lose repsonce and low down power.

So yes, on most cars its a stupid idea.

lag for a start..

why put a turbo suited to an engine with say 400+ BHP, on an engine thats not going to make 350bhp?

putting a T4 on my 7.56:1 c/r engine, but retaining the standard head (ie no portied etc) is pointless imo, as it'd be laggier compared to putting a T34 on thats more suited to the engine and the characteristics i want from it.

Could be an STi II / III at that age .

If he has gone to the trouble of a front mount, then it is sounding more and more likely that you might want one of these .

It'd need bigger injectors regardless. But if it's on the standard scooby ecu injectors etc I'd take it with a pinch of salt.

Takes a bit of work, and a decent ECU, but 410bhp is the most I've seen on a standard bottom end. Which lasted 8 months before spinning a shell.

Better tell Andy Forrest to stop running 9sec quarters his GT35 is ruining in his car.

And he doesn't even use a standard intercooler. He does it with NO intercooler

He runs an intercooler now.

And ran a 9.39 the other weekend with it!

Also ran a 10.2@156 in the rain!
