Default Mondeo with 102,000 miles - Advice

Hi,

I am wanting to buy a Mondeo as a run around car and I have seen an S reg one nearby with 102,000 miles. Is this sort of mileage ok for these cars or should I stay away? Any advice really appreciated.

Danny

As long as there is good enough history and the price is right, should be a good run-about

Cheers,
Dan

I think that most "newish" cars are good for 200,000 if serviced properly

Sounds fine, would say that was a lot on a Mondeo, they go on forever

Zetecs are very tough motors, as said, should go on for years if serviced correctly

Like any car, 100k on the motorways is a lot easier to handle than 100k minicabbing around town.

Given that most Mondeos were company cars when new, and probably doing 60k-100k in the first three years, it's hard to imagine many only having 102k now, so buy on condition and don't pay too much attention to the mileometer.

some time next week my v6 petrol mondeo will hit 170k.
the car has cost me nothing to run in the 18 months I've had it bar 2 oil changes, an alternator and a brake pipe I got all the parts for virtually nothing.

100k is nothing on these cars as long as they get serviced correctlly.
watch for front bottom arm wear tho. the arms are very cheap and last a few years usually.

My Mk2 1.8 Mondeo has just hit 125k.

Bought it at about 50k IIRC.

Totally rag the FUCK out of it, gets 40miles+ of 100mph-120mph driving every day, and at least once a week it shows about 135 on the clock as theres this REALLY long downhill bit of motorway, but it never misses a beat

Always keep an eye on il n water, not like it uses any.

Serviced as per chedule, but never sooner, hell, i forgot last time and it wasnt serviced for nearly 25k

But it fine!

I really dont like the car, but it wont die, so basically, they shithot
