Ive used:
Standard / wire rung / standard head bolts - with 385bhp (at peak 32psi held 26psi), the gasket would lift and start to show signs of failure every 8k to 20k, depending on number of track days in year (most was seven resulting in 8k).
Mountune / long studs - 419bhp (at peak 34 psi held 26psi) and 515bhp (at peak 34psi held 32psi) - NEVER had a gasket failure.

I've had every type of gasket fail for various reasons. The only type I've not had fail through the gasket quality alone is a mountune WRC, but I have had them fail on engines where the block deck has suffered corrosion and hence has'nt been 100% flat, or the engine has been overheated.

I was thinking about getting the rings ground down to block height and then using a conventional gasket!!!! Not sure if it work ok but I don't see why not!! Bit cheaper than decking the block and fitting lower comp pistons (may as well be a rebuild if you're going to do that, and if you're going to do that you may as well get a new block!!)
I'm in the same boat!!

My Cometic (thicker of the two available) has been on my car for a while now, though the block was blueprinted 30k before I fitted it, its been sweet, previously had a group A which lasted about 30k
