u can run 10 psi max on a std chip, take out the ecu unscrew the cover then unscrew the board and see if the chip has a aftermarket manufactuers name on it, tbh ur best bet is to get it set up properly by someone who knows what there doin and dont touch the bleed valve unless u wanna re do ur headgasket and anything else that will proberbly blow up if u wind the bleed valve out

cheers kev

the fueling will be fine for 8 psi of boost, check to see if its chipped then once up and running get it set up properly and get rid of the bleed valve if ur curious to how fast ur car can go, me and my mate wound one out on a xr3 turbo and the engine lasted about 10 mins wont ever do that again lol

cheers 4 the help but what would b the cause 4 it 2 only boost at 4psi without the bleed valve,if i fit a -31 actuator will that make any difference, the turbo ive got on it bolted straight up but the inside diametre of the inlet side of the turbo that comes from the air filter is bigger than the turbo that i took off so would i have 2 get an actuator 2 mach the turbo or r they all the same really

it was only peaking 12psi you wouldnt of held that in the high gears.
mines peaking 12/13 on a calibrated gauge but get it in 4th and boot it and it will cut out.

8 psi is the satndard boost pressure. A weak actuator could be responsable for the 4 psi you were seeing. You are using a good quality boost guage and not a TIM shit thing aren't you??

Unchipped I beleive you can make the car run 10psi after a chip about 15psi. Once you've gone a little silly like me 25psi

In a nutshell mate.the rs owners club put a figure of 0.63 psi as standard.I converted mine to a chipped ecu and before i put the ecu on i accidently fitted a -31 actuator (bought it off a mate who told me it was a standard actuator). The car flew and when I reached 17 psi the standard ecu shut the motor down.sounded like a double barrel shotgun and i shat meself.Looked in the mirror to see a fog bank which ive been told is unburnt fuel (thank god).I then ran it at 12 psi and it didnt repeat the shut down (thank fook). From that experience I would say you could get 12 psi but i am no expert.
