Default using a 3i fuel pump?will it work

will using a xr3i fuel pump on an rst work?
would it let it idle and not be enough fuel on boost or will it make it run like a bag of shit from the start
mates just converted a 3i to rst spec and he's havin trouble gettin it to idle, could the fuel pump be the cause?

Pumps are the same mate.

If its struggling to idle then i can almost guarantee theres an air leak.

Brake servo's are prime suspects believe it or not

Ive heard that aswell, but there was a thread a few weeks ago. The RS and XR have the same pump, and then people fit cossie pumps as uprated items which have a higher flow rate, but are identical to look at. I'll try and find the thread.

When I looked into this some were the same and some wern't. I was told to look at the part number on the side of the pump.

From the factory the pumps were the same, it will have a Bosch part number on it.

Again, i would say an air leak.

What did you do to cure the idle?

A vacuum gauge is an invaluable item on an MFI. Air leaks can make them sound as if they are mis-firing and they hunt and sound like a scooby. Is the mixture screw covered over?

Hmmm

I wasn't sure of this, but theres another thread where someone quoted me the Bosch numbers etc and said they were the same. I'll have to dig the thread out

When u go to get set up u will not have the right fuel flow rate and the xri3 pump will give up

both have different parts numbers for the fuel pumps

Guys,

I had a chack on Auotdata, The XR3i pump delivery pressure as below

is just suplying enough pressure to run the turbo. Turbo below

In theory a 3i pump is ok for a limited time as if the pump was to drop below is maximum you could have reduced fuel then a lean condition then bye bye pistons!
