I think theyre piloting a scheme where they can see listed mods and details of insurance. I remember reading about it but i'm not 100% certain that theyre doing it yet.

This scheme could be good but it just wont be. Because you will buy something like a sporty hatch that has a bodykit as standard so obviously wont come up declared as it's a standard item. But you will get some smart arse copper who knows fuck all about cars telling you how it's not delcared etc...

just thought i would find out if what i thought was right lol.......

I think they were probably having your mate on and trying to get him to drop himself in it!!

Maybe coming in the future though!

So they will now be issuing the police with identikit pictures of all cars manufactured with body kits. Think of the fun we can all have if this nonsense takes off.

They are piloting these schemes, they intend to prosecute you because something like a body kit will invalidate a standard insurance policy meaning your not insured.

Also heard of police taking photographs of modded cars causing them problems and sending them to the insurance companies.

We have pictures taken of illegal modifications that the police hang onto and if the modifications go back on, you can be hauled before a court. Modifications such as your exhaust being too low. Very much on easy street in the UK for mods and restrictions

Sounds like hearsay to me. Is this documented anywhere?

For a start undeclared modifications wouldn't invalidate any 3rd party claim so you would still be covered for 3rd party risk in the event of an accident.

However the insurance company wouldn't cover your losses and if the modification was contributory to the accident would seek to recover their losses from the insured.

Thats what a local broker told me anyhow.

Fella's, I love threads involving police cos they really crack me up!

You lot must meet some pretty stupid plod.

I can only speak about our force, and NO, we only know if you are insured or not.

You must agree though that there are some really arrogant, no it all (but in reality know rock all) bobbys about.

My old fella is a pig and he is a shit driver, with no commen sense and his generally an unpleasent person, which imo is about 90% of the force unfortunatly.

O and heard on the radio, that the off duty special that got stabbed to death was possibly stabbed with the knife she took out her own home to confront the thief with

Bit harsh Alps

I've dealt with loads of plod and most have been really good when in all fairness they could have hung me out to dry. I always treat coppers on the same level as I would anybody else and am polite and friendly, this approach usually see's me walk away with atelling off and no ticket. They aren't all bad

Saying that though I've had my dealings with some proper cunning stunts. Like the plod who stopped me last week for driving suspiciously slowly. I was doing 45 in a 40 limit And then when I said I was running in got told I should have a sign in the back, at this point I pointed to the big "RUNNING IN" sticker in the back window

End of the day there is good and bad in all.

I agree, its just the arogant power hungry wankers that really get on me tit ends, its like they are there to make your life hell and dictate rules and regs to you even if there wrong. The only problem is, is that a good percentage of them dont know what there talking about and try and do you even if your in the right.

I have lost 75% of my respect for the police force as a whole, they are paid to carry out a service that most of them dont want to carry out.

I had an incident in town, told a bobby and pointed the lad out, he looked at me and walked off, they only did something when i went steaming towards him and was going to beat him to a pulp.

They winge that they get spat at and have to take abuse everyday but surely thats like me winging that i have to get dirty being an electrician. They knew what the job entailed before they decided to take the carreer move.

That said some are good, unfortunatly not 80% of the ones i have met, including my dad

Bro replied I live here I'm reversing onto my drive way but was waiting for you to pass before manouvering. Copppers reply "Ok, don't do it again" My brother was thinking WTF

I have always said that if i'm driving like a knob and get stung then hands up i was in the wrong aand would take it on the chin.

My point is though is that you are belittled, patrenised and spoken to like a general undesirable which they deal with day in day out, when infact most people would respect the plod if they didnt come across so badly, well me anyway.

I give respect to ANYONE but if someone who i have never met before starts being a tit thats when my respect vanishes for them. They think they are owed respect because of the uniform, a uniform doesnt get respect the person in it does

I dont disagree with you (BTW I wasnt driving like a knob LOL )

I also agree with you there ARE alot of plod who ARE chimps and were probably bullied at school (IMO).

TBH though, it has to be said, alot of forces differ and IMO the MET is one of the better ones and generally its the northern forces which are crappier... Again IMO

Maybe its diferent where you live but all dealings with traffic ive had especially when its to do with HGV's they have been right arrogant cocks even to the point about 10 years ago i made a complaint about one to his boss and the cheeky fucker stopped me the next day just to let let me know he will always be watching me Now i hadnt been cocky uptill then is i dont believe in antagonising then as it will just come back to you but this tit just didnt like trucky's and he made a point of diching out producers even though he knew i was perfectly legal

Same goes for the motorway traffic officers what a bunch of idiots they are, Im parked up on the hard shoulder broke down and 3 of them roll up in a range rover so im nice and polite tells them im broke down and recovery is on its way one of them says no problem but you cant sit in the truck and i'd have to wait on the embankment so after 5 mins sat there freezing my bollocks of i thought fuck that and jumped back in the truck this cock gets out of his nice warm range rover comes over and tells me i cant wait in the cab its a H&S issue, so i lost it with him and told him to fuck off because theres 3 of them parked behind me in a poxy range rover and im at risk when im protected by 17 ton of truck fucking arrogant idiots in uniform

I understand you points, as mentioned there are good and bad in all walks of life and FORTUNATELY (or unfortunately, depending on the way you look at it )... The police service is made up of a complete cross section of society; black white purple green or orange, aswell as cocks and arseholes, along with genuinely decent fellows, such as you or I who are just trying to make a difference to society

Maybe .... if they were all assesed pshycologically, they would all appear to be completely Łcuked up, due to the ammount of horrible $hit they in particular have to deal with?? 1st on the scene at major accidents on M-Ways?? It HAS to change a person inside surely??

I was pulled over by the equivilant of a panda car in a residential street 2 weeks ago. I had never been pulled over in over 8 years of driving and driving numerous cars etc. He came up with a breathaliser (was 2pm on a sunday) and asked if I knew what to do. I politely said no expecting him to get shirty (obviously I knew to blow into it but not for how long and what intensity) and he was polite enough. Then asked for my licence, ran it through his computer and I was on my way.

I was also driving a vehicle that wasnt mine and he was fine with all that.

There are dodgy ones as there are in every walk of life but if you treat them the same way as you would like to be treated then I havent heard of many bad stories.

Traffic cops on our trucks can be a bit harsh though as essentially any truck going from Melbourne to Sydney has to pass through a place called Marulan. There is a huge defect station there. Now Marulan is abuot 600kms from our depot so imagine all the things that can happen in those 600kms. The amount we fall foul of is amazing and crippling our revenue. Yet trucks that never leave our state and run by other companies have bald tyres, smoky, faulty lights etc

I had a copper that saw me come around a corner at about 50mph in a 30 zone and sideways. I was 5 up and my car is a 4 seater. He couldn't really do much as he was on his own and in a panda car. He decided because the car (at the time) was registered to my mum, he'd ring her up and snitch on me. I couldn't fooking believe it.

My mum said "he's 19, why you telling me?"

Speaking as a traffic cop, I generally find that motorists are more respectful(not quite sure thats the right word in this context but it will do) to me now I wear a white hat than they were when I was patrolling in a panda.

Or is it because I have just mellowed now I'm 36.
