My place is all wi-fi. All I bought was a Netgear wireless router and the Netgear wireless USB antennae type thing. Load the software, the laptop if wi-fi should pick up the signal and Bob's your mothers uncle.
my flat is all wirelessed up too.
If you have cable then an wireless ethernet router will do the job. But as said before, you will need a combined modem if you dial up.
Whatever you do, make sure its secured using WEP, or WPA. You'd be amazed how many little fuckers are out 'war driving', browsing your computers and using your connection
