Default Is it better to have a flexi section in my exhaust?

I have a 1990 RS Turbo fitted with a 2.0 zvh engine. It currently has a Scorpion exhaust fitted which doesn't have a flexi section. When i removed the turbo heat shield the other day I noticed that a couple of the nuts on the turbo housing had worked loose. I have just bought a Magnex system off a friend in good nick quite cheaply, I was thinking of using the front section from the Magnex and coupling it to the rest of my system (I really dislike the style of the Magnex backbox!).

Other than this I did think about selling both of the systems because there both in very good condition and treating myself to a new Mongoose system, I know these don't have a flexi but i've always fancied one.

What is my best option do you recommend?

Cheers, Mark

Thanks for that, will bear that into consideration. Has anybody else got any oppinions on what exhaust they are using and if they've had any problems without a flexi section?

Cheers, Mark

I personally run a Magnex system (with Flexi) and a Mongoose backbox

The flexi does help take away stress and should help with the nuts working loose...

You can actually get a flexi section for Mongooses too I'm sure of it, I've seen mongooses with them, but maybe they were produced elsewhere (they are shorter than the Magnex version)

Anyone handy with a welder should be able to add a flexi section to whatever system you choose to use. A good idea to have one fitted imo

It does fit straight on...but of course being a mongoose (and the extra length from the flexi) it doesn't sit under the bumper quite like a magnex does, looks fairly rude

as long as it will fit on i will just cut a bit off the magnex mid section so it sits nicely under the bumper

I've gotta scorpion system and thought the exhaust was blowin yesterday only to find that 3 of the studs have snapped off on the turbo leavin a gap that's causin it to blow! Had it for a couple of years without a problem, but u don't want it happenin, gotta take it off now and get the stud drilled out! Without a flexi pipe the exhaust's rigid.....my car is bloody low tho and occasionally catches on dips in the road when i'm hammerin it!

Yea, fair play, but that will likely mean moving the mounts on the system too so it lines up forthe hangers - I couldn't be bothered with all that as I'll likely be changing my exhaust system at some point, I just lobbed this one on from my old car

Cheers for your help guys, will have a go at fitting the front section from the magnex to my system, friendly with someone who does stainless welding so will have to give him a shout. Would like a mongoose backbox or system myself but can't really go buying another exhaust, lol.

Next question the magnex frontpipe seems to touch the sump as i've got a zvh bottom end where as the scorpion system has pleanty of clearance, has anybody found this or think it will cause a problem?

Cheers
