Default Suspension set-up for 3door cossie?

I`m going to upgrade my cars suspension in the near future. I`m not sure about what parts to get and need your advise

My prioritys ar first of all preformance, I want the car to be faster, not nesseseraly much lower. I definently do NOT want the car to sit to low at the back, I think it should have a slight forward stance! I might even keep the original springs if some really good dampers would do. I do not want coilovers as they ar not road-leagle i norway..

Thanks

When i bought my 3dr cossie it had been lowered & the handling was terrible at speed. I hate my cars being lowered & the grief that goes with it.

I poly bushed the front end, changed the front struts for koni adj & 30% uprated but standard ride height springs, at the rear it is SRH springs 30% uprated with Bilstein shocks, this combination is very good for road use. I have now changed the front to coilovers as i do a few trackdays & found the Koni's too soft for the track but the koni's are far better than the coilovers on the road.

Simon.

thank you simoc, where did you get those springs? Some of the SRH springs I`ve seen have seemed even higher than standard, how was yours thinking about apperance?

Regards
Kjartan

Speak to Mike Rainbird on here, he will probably advise Koni Shocks and LEDA/Ahmed springs, and it is a FANTASTIC package/setup

The setup smidsy is talking about, will lower it fractionally. With 17's I can still fit between 1 and 2 fingers inbetween the arch and tyre. Whereas before on my old springs, half the tyre was just swallowed by the arch

Thanks!
Remember someone talked of using a mix of koni and bilstein dampers, front / rear for the firmest ride, anyone heard of this??

Hi all,
with regards to front and rear dampers, I understand that konis on the front with biltseins on the back with standard ride height springs is the way to go.
Konis are apparentley proned to bursting on the rears due to the rear squating under hard acceleration.

Regards, Mike.

This will not happen with the rears set on hard, and the Ahmed/Leda springs. It does not squat.

I run konis on my 3dr and bilsteins on my 4x4.
My rear konis are medium with std springs all round.
I found them brilliant. Bilsteins were easier to get but I find the ride is harder than the konis and I don't notice any difference in handling.

I'd be seriously worried if a shock burst just from squatting under acceleration, sounds more like some dukes of hazzard running.

the konis do burst on the back, i had to change to bilstein , simon at woodford gets loads of rears every week doing the same. its a common thing to fit koni at the front and bilstein at the rear.

Thing SRH springs will be the way to go, as long as they are not higher than the original ones! It will be a combo of koni and bilstein or bilstein all the way
