Default Sound Question

I am after better sound from my headphones, they are decent ones but don't sound that good when connected to my pc (onboard sound) I am after a sound card with the ability to connect my headphones to the front, is this the best/cheapest option

Cheers

Headphones won't generally give you better crisp sound then stereo speakers will unfortunately. A new sound card will make little differance I'm afraid.

I run my PC though my hifi from the standard onboard soundcard (the boggo built in jobbie) and the sound quality is vastly improved. Granted I have a Trust 5.1 digital card ( http://www.trust.com/products/product.aspx?artnr=12950 ) and it is connected to my standard stereo hifi using an optical cable.

I find there is a fiar difference between plugging a pair of headphones into the soundcard headphone out put, and plugging a pair of headphones into my hifi - the hifi sounds a lot better, even tho the source is the same. Maybe it's just the amp in the hifi making the headphones osund better, I don't know....

I don't use headphones much tho.... Lol...
