that's the whole point most people are so concerned about how much they can lift that they use poor form or put loads of weight on a bar and there spotter gets a better work out than them. the majority of people on this thread are more body building orientated yet are more concerned with weight they can lift (or in truth cant lift ) like a power lifter. if you are body building to gain muscle weight you can lift is irrelevant

"about" 160kg? Can you bench 160kg or not??
As for your mate, benching 200kg at 98kg? You should let him know he has beaten a british bench press record in the under 100kg unequipped class!
100kg Bench(All Contest) Chris Edwards 195kg 16/02/2008
Or... you are talking shite.

and the 200k bench will be a gym lift im guessing not a powerlifting style lift.
mark bagwell has benched raw 205k in british comp also.
200 bench @ 100k bodyweight as a gym lift is not too special, yeah good lift and obviously trained for good few years but nothing to be doubting.

A lad I know has just came second in a weight lifting competition lifting 196kg. I've been helping him out a little, and gaining a lot of tips. He could have came first had he benched 206kg, as first was 205kg, so instead of going for 200kg, which would have still left him second he went to take first and just failed. He doesn't weigh more than 100kg I'm sure.
Trust me, 206kg is a lot of weight. Blows me away.

james ward
first year of compeating and he smashed it
going into the 105kg class next year as most of his lifts were well up there with them guys anyway
and going into the 105 at 90 as he can defend his title at the same time

Well, all of your questions depends on you. First, you should at 160 pounds. For a normal male body fat percentage of 8-10 what they have. Now, with how much you squat and bench to decide.

Yeah OK!! what one rep moving it about 3 inches on a smith machine!! or your mate 'spotting' you and taking around 50kg's or you are very much mistaken and thought the plates were KG's instead they were lb's!
Makes me laugh threads like this, 99% of the people who reply will add a 'Few' KG's (its human nature) half dont have a clue what 'form' is (and probably dont care) and if asked to produce a picture of their Arnold like body they probably couldnt find it because in reality they look shite!!!!!

140kg isnt that unrealistic. Take 20 for olympic bar so 60kg each side, only 3 plates, most people of reasonable frame can knock out 3 plates after 3 or 4 years of training. Ive personally seen dave and reckon he could easily do it; he'd scare the plates up if he couldnt lift them!!

I can always gauge if someone knows what they are talking about with their response to me when I tell them. If they know what they are talking about they either don't believe me or say thats good going. If they don't know what they're talking about they say "only 80KG"
![Surprised](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/bigcry.gif)
Supprised at some of the smaller lads weights though as I'd say its harder for someone at 70KG to lift 80KG than an 80KG person to bench 90KG or 90kg person to bench 100KG personally.

after ruffly six to eight months of first training i could do on a good day 2 reps of 2 plates a side at 68 kg but im lucky as i have always been naturally strong. but when i started to train that was my goal to get to two plates a side. now 4 years on i still stick to two plates a side as lifting heavy doesn't interest me but i am now around 100 kg

I bumped into Andy Peters in London in the Gant store and I was actually supprised by his size. He's quite a stocky chap actually.
Scrapman, you should get some pics up. You must be a short arse like me (5'7) with those stats. I'm 28/29 waist 39 chest and 15 inch biceps. I've got back into my boxing though lately so I can see me loosing some size in aid of a bit more speed. I spared with a 5'4 bantam weight yesterday and just couldn't catch him
although when I eventually did he knew about it lol

Thanks for the compliment!!! my training is actually very clean and the only supplements i take are USN Anabolic Muscle Fuel and Creatine caps, my diet is also VERY strict....ive found people shout "steroids" when they see a good physique just to justify their own inadequacies
